Hyderabad: Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla, who is also Chancellor of State universities, directed the Telangana Council of Higher Education (TGCHE) to implement innovative academic programmes, including Aerospace, Defence, Maritime, FinTech and Climate Governance, in all State universities from the academic year 2026-27.
The Governor, who convened a meeting with TGCHE Chairman Prof V Balakista Reddy at Lok Bhavan here on Friday, held detailed discussions on the introduction and implementation of innovative academic programmes proposed by TGCHE.
Prof Reddy briefed the Governor on the newly introduced UG courses in emerging and strategically important sectors, including Aerospace, Defence, Maritime, FinTech, Climate Governance, Life Sciences and Food Technology, and said these programmes were designed in alignment with global best practices and the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, keeping in view national priorities, industry requirements and future employment opportunities.
The Governor remarked that Telangana should emerge as a role model for other States in promoting innovative and future-ready higher education programmes.
