Hyderabad: Three members of a family were killed in an road accident after a car collided head-on with a lorry near Turkapally-Muraharipally in Medchal police on Thursday.
According to the police, the victims were travelling from Karimnagar to Hyderabad when the driver reportedly lost control of the car. The vehicle first rammed into the road divider and then veered onto the opposite carriageway, where it collided with an oncoming lorry. All three occupants of the car died on the spot.
On receiving information, Medchal police rushed to the accident site and launched rescue operations. The bodies were pulled from the mangled vehicle and shifted to a local government hospital for post-mortem examination.
Police said efforts were underway to establish the identities of the victims. The accident caused a major traffic jam on the highway.
