Minister Laxman Kumar rejects Harish Rao’s Rs 2,000 crore Gurukulam tender scam allegations

SC, ST Welfare Minister Adluri Laxman Kumar rejected BRS leader Harish Rao’s allegations of a Rs 2,000 crore scam in Gurukulam tenders, stating the total tender value was Rs 1,140 crore. He challenged opponents to prove irregularities.

Karimnagar: Refuting the BRS leader T Harish Rao’s allegation that Rs 2000 crore scam took place in Gurukulam tenders, the SC,ST Welfare Minister Adluri Laxman Kumar questioned as to how was it possible when the total cost of the tender was Rs 1140 crore.

Online tenders were invited enabling the contractors across the country to take part in the tendering process. Tenders were invited through a special Chief Secretary.


He, Prabhakar and special CS were ready to resign if irregularities in Gurukulam tenders were proved, he challenged while interacting with media here on Wednesday.

Responding to Harish Rao’s comments that ministers Ponnam Prabhakar and Adluri Laxman Kumar were not aware about tenders in their own departments, he said that it was the history of the BRS government wherein the review meeting of police department was done without informing the then Home Minister.

Till recent past, the BRS leaders spoke about alleged scams in civil supplies and Singareni. Now, they have picked up the Gurukulam issue.

BC,SC,ST,Minority Gurukulams were neglected during the BRS government. No SC Gurukulam school got a permanent building in the previous government.

Owners of buildings, wherein the BC, SC welfare hostels were being operated, had locked as the BRS government failed to pay rents. It was the congress government which cleared all the pending bills, he said.

Ponnam Prabhakar said that it was not proper on part of Harish Rao to make humiliating comments on BC and SC ministers.

Earlier, they travelled in TGSRTC bus from Vaageswari engineering college to NTR statue in Karimnagar to know the problems of passengers. While traveling, they interacted with students and other people.
