Three held for forging chassis, engine numbers of scrapped vehicle in Adilabad

Adilabad police arrested three men from Sonala village for allegedly attempting to register a vehicle using chassis and engine numbers from scrapped vehicles. The accused confessed to tampering with a vehicle purchased in Maharashtra and trying to register it in Telangana.

Three held for forging chassis, engine numbers of scrapped vehicle in Adilabad

Adilabad: Three persons were arrested for allegedly attempting to register vehicles using the chassis and engine numbers of scrapped vehicles and committing forgery here on Sunday.

Briefing details of the arrest to media persons, Adilabad DSP L Jeevan Reddy said that SK Nayeem, Makunur Vijay Kumar and Pendur Indu, all from Sonala village were apprehended for trying to register a vehicle using chassis and engine numbers of scrapped vehicles. The three were detained while moving suspiciously during a vehicle check.


During interrogations, the trio confessed to erasing the original chassis and engine number of a vehicle purchased in Maharashtra. They admitted to attempting to register the vehicle in Telangana by entering the chassis and engine number of a scrapped vehicle. Police advised the public not to buy vehicles if their chassis and engine numbers were erased.
