Hyderabad: A bike-taxi driver was allegedly duped and forced to pay Rs 20,000 after a staged road accident in Medipally.
The victim, Suresh (29) of Jawaharnagar, was transporting a passenger to Boduppal on June 5, when three men on a scooter allegedly rammed his bike near Bangaru Maisamma Wine Shop. While two fled, one claimed he had suffered a leg injury and persuaded Suresh to take him to a hospital.
During the trip, the man contacted his associates, who later intercepted Suresh and took him to a secluded location. The trio further allegedly threatened him and demanded money for medical expenses.
Unable to pay, Suresh sought help from a friend, who transferred Rs 20,000 through digital payment.
Suresh approached the police and lodged a complaint on Sunday. A case has been registered and being investigated.
