Hyderabad: The popular annual ‘Fish Prasadam’ is set to be distributed at the Nampally Exhibition Grounds in Hyderabad on June 8 on the occasion of Mrigasira Karthi.

The Hyderabad district administration, GHMC, police, revenue, TGSPDCL, HMWSSB and the Fisheries Department have been making arrangements, including setting up barricades, providing drinking water through tankers and sachets, and deploying police personnel to regulate crowds at queue lines and counters. Officials have also deployed mobile electricity transformers to ensure uninterrupted power supply, along with sanitation workers and other civic services.

The Bathini family members, who organise the fish prasadam distribution through the Bathini Mrigasira Trust, requested the Fisheries Department to provide Murrel (Korameenu) fish seedlings for the event.

“The department will procure 1.20 lakh Murrel (Korameenu) fish seedlings measuring 2.5 to 3 inches for the event,” Deputy Director, Fisheries Department, T Srinivas told Telangana Today.

Arrangements have been made to ensure the smooth distribution of these Murrel fish seedlings to those coming for the fish prasadam, which is scheduled to be distributed continuously from June 8 to June 9, he said.

The department is setting up 16 token sale counters and 35 separate fish seedling distribution counters at the venue.

On the night of June 8, at 9 pm, the fish prasadam distribution programme will be officially inaugurated under the direct management of the Bathini family members, the official said.
