Hyderabad: Save KBR Park volunteers hold memorial walk on World Environment Day

Hyderabad: Save KBR Park volunteers on Friday organised a memorial walk to protest the destruction of city’s green lung in the name of flyovers and underpasses surrounding KBR Park.

On World Environment Day, Hyderabad did not celebrate, as organisers said the city’s last green lung was being destroyed. The organisers said they mourned the trees that stood for decades and were axed in days, despite the 2021 stay order.

The volunteers also organised a silent funeral for the trees lost around KBR National Park. “When a city loses its trees, it slowly loses its soul too,” they said.

The volunteers displayed placards and held the protest between 7 am and 9 am.
