Hyderabad: BRS MLC Dasoju Sravan accused Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy of trying to link the Rajesh Exports issue with BRS working president KT Rama Rao through a politically motivated smear campaign. He said that, contrary to the Congress allegations, the then BRS government did not provide any monetary or other benefits to the company.
Addressing a press conference at Telangana Bhavan on Friday, Sravan said Rajesh Exports was a Fortune 500 company and had received recognition under the Centre’s Rs 18,100-crore Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme. He also pointed out that the union government facilitated an LIC investment of around Rs 600 crore in the company.
The BRS MLC argued that the Telangana government had signed only a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Rajesh Exports when it proposed setting up an electronic chip manufacturing facility in the State and that no financial incentives or benefits were extended to the company.
“The proposal never moved beyond the MoU stage, and not a single rupee of public money was given to the firm,” he said.
Sravan alleged that the Congress government was selectively targeting Rama Rao while ignoring the Centre’s role in according recognition to the company. He suggested that the Chief Minister seek clarification from the union government, which cleared Rajesh Exports for the PLI scheme.
The BRS leader also alleged that the Congress government entered into several MoUs with dubious firms during Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s Davos visit. He sought to know how many of those proposals had actually materialised. He advised Revanth Reddy to stop the smear campaign against Rama Rao and the BRS on the issue.
