Development not possible with religious politics: Azharuddin

Jagtial: Minority Welfare Minister Mohammad Azharuddin opined that development was not possible through religious politics. Some people were trying to gain political benefits in the name of religion. However, he said he would stay away from such politics. Having started his career as a cricketer, he later entered politics. He said he would not encourage religious politics and added that results could be achieved through teamwork.

Azharuddin made these remarks while addressing a press conference after participating in Telangana Formation Day celebrations held in Jagtial on Tuesday. Greeting the people on the occasion of Telangana Formation Day, the minister said the people of the region achieved a separate State in 2014 after a long struggle that began in 1969. Stating that minorities in Jagtial were facing certain issues, he instructed local leaders to organise a meeting to discuss the problems of minorities from the erstwhile Karimnagar district.

Promising to sanction a minority degree college in Jagtial, Azharuddin assured that steps would be taken to establish an Idgah and a burial ground in the town after consulting the Collector. He also assured that an Urdu school would be established in the town.
