Andhra Pradesh athlete Mogili Venkataram Reddy wins gold at Asian U-20 Championships

Hyderabad: Mogili Venkataram Reddy, the talented middle-distance athlete from Andhra Pradesh representing India, has won the gold medal in the men’s 800 m event at the 22nd Asian Under-20 Athletics Championships being held in Hong Kong.

Displaying exceptional determination and athletic excellence, Venkataram Reddy clocked an impressive 1 minute 48.20 seconds to secure the top position and bring laurels to India and Andhra Pradesh on the international stage.


This remarkable achievement reflects his hard work, dedication and commitment to the sport. His outstanding performance has also earned him qualification for the World Under-20 Athletics Championships, scheduled to be held in the United States of America in August 2026.

The Andhra Pradesh Athletics Association, along with the Vice-Chairman & Managing Director, Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP), Chairman, SAAP, and the Athletics Federation of India (AFI), have congratulated Venkataram Reddy for his “exceptional achievement and for bringing glory to the nation.”

“His success serves as a great inspiration to young athletes across Andhra Pradesh and India. The Association wishes him continued success in his future international competitions and hopes he achieves even greater milestones for the country,” M Narayana Rao,
