Nara Lokesh vows to strengthen TDP in Telangana and Andaman

Hyderabad: In an announcement that is set to trigger debate in political circles, Telugu Desam Party (TDP) working president Nara Lokesh said efforts would be intensified to strengthen the party base in Telangana and Andaman.

“It has been a month since my appointment as TDP working president. There is a responsibility on me to strengthen the party in Telangana and Andaman,” he said while addressing the Mahanadu programme in Mangalagiri, Andhra Pradesh.

The TDP working president also announced that he would personally meet party leaders and workers. “Let us strive to make all the party programmes a grand success. Let us restore the party’s past glory from the village level,” Lokesh called upon party leaders.

These announcements assume political significance as Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy is unveiling former Chief Minister and TDP founder NT Rama Rao’s statue at Ameerpet here on Thursday.

Interestingly, after the Congress came to power in Telangana, TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu had also vowed to strengthen the party in Telangana.

Addressing party workers at NTR Bhavan in July 2024, he announced plans to restructure the party in the State, especially by engaging youth and educated people.

He had stressed that TDP was born in Telangana. He had even reportedly asked whether a party with roots in Telangana should not operate in the State.
