A POCSO court in Hyderabad sentenced Chilkur Sandeep to 20 years’ imprisonment and fined him Rs 50,000 for sexually assaulting a minor girl in 2019. The court also awarded Rs 3 lakh compensation to the victim.

Hyderabad: A POCSO court on Tuesday convicted and sentenced a man to 20 years’ imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 on him for sexually assaulting a minor girl. The court awarded a compensation of Rs 3 lakh to the victim.
According to the police, on 6 June 2019, the man Chilkur Sandeep (20), a resident of Rajendranagar sexually assaulted the girl after taking her to his residence while she was spotted playing outside the house. The child narrated the ordeal to her mother, who later approached the police.
A case under various Sections of IPC Act and POCSO Act was registered against Sandeep and the man was arrested by the police then. After the trial the court sentenced Sandeep to 20 years’ imprisonment.
