Farmer fainted while participating in protest seeking procurement in Nirmal

Nirmal: A farmer fainted due to the intense heatwave while participating in a protest seeking procurement of paddy and maize at Yellapur village in Kadem mandal on Monday.

Farmers from Lingapur village gathered at a junction near Yellapur to protest against the government’s inaction in procurement. One of them, Akula Narsaiah from Lingapur, fell unconscious due to the harsh weather conditions. Other protesters shifted him to a hospital in Kadem, where his condition was said to be stable. Officials stated that steps were being taken to expedite procurement of paddy and maize. They admitted that a shortage of vehicles had led to some delay and added that farmers were being paid.


Meanwhile, a farmer fell at the feet of an official during the protest, urging him to procure paddy. The incident reflected the plight of farmers. A video clip of the incident went viral on social media platforms.
