Scribe booked for abusing agriculture official in Adilabad

A journalist from Adilabad district has been booked under the SC/ST Prevention of Atrocities Act for allegedly abusing and threatening an agriculture extension officer by referring to her caste name during an argument in Echoda mandal.

Scribe booked for abusing agriculture official in Adilabad

Adilabad: A scribe was booked for allegedly abusing an agriculture official using her caste name in Echoda mandal on Friday.

Police said that a case was registered against Gaddam Chandrashekhar Reddy of Kumari village, working with a vernacular newspaper, under the relevant sections of SC/ST Prevention of Atrocities Act, based on a complaint received from Sai Keerthana, an agriculture extension officer.


Chandrashekhar Reddy reportedly threatened her, saying he would not allow her to work in her cluster. He insulted her using her caste name in an argument with her. He was contacting her over the phone to register details of his land. The official approached the police who in turn booked a case against the scribe.
