Kothagudem: A leopard was spotted on the Ediraguttalu-Subbampet main road in Cherla mandal in the district.
A few commuters passing through the road during late-night hours on Thursday captured the leopard’s movement on their mobile phones and shared the videos on social media. The videos later went viral. Forest officials stated that the animal might have strayed into the area in search of water, as water bodies in forest areas may have dried up.
They cautioned residents of forest fringe villages such as Subbampet, Mekalagudem and others against venturing into forests at night. The officials also advised farmers and women entering forests to collect tendu leaves (tunikaku) to remain cautious.
