Hyderabad: A local court on Friday sentenced a man to 60 days’ imprisonment for harassing and ill-treating his elderly parents at their house in Narayanguda.

The court also imposed a fine of Rs 50 on him.

G Srinivas (44), a private employee, had been repeatedly harassing his aged parents, following which they recently lodged a formal complaint with the Narayanguda police.

Based on the complaint, a case was registered under sections of the City Police Act and the BNS, and Srinivas was arrested.

Officials said Srinivas had earlier been warned over his rude behaviour towards his parents, but he continued to harass and assault them.

They warned that strict action would be taken against those who harass or abandon elderly parents.
