Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao pledged the party support to efforts to protect KBR Park and oppose the felling of trees around it for road widening. He called the park an invaluable ecological asset that must be protected.
The representatives of KBR Park Road Widening Affected Owners Forum met the former Minister and urged him to support their campaign against the proposed felling of trees around the park. Referring to the recent Supreme Court verdict, they appealed for united action to preserve KBR Park.
Responding to their concerns, Rama Rao said KBR Park was an invaluable lung space for the city and played a crucial role in maintaining environmental balance amid rapid urbanisation. He said any move that threatened the city’s greenery should be resisted through democratic and legal means.
He recalled that the previous BRS government prepared alternative proposals including an underground infrastructure model, to ensure neither the park nor its trees were affected.
“Those proposals remain on record with the Municipal Administration Department and could still be implemented,” he said.
Adding that development and environmental protection need not be mutually exclusive, the BRS leader argued that technology and proper planning could help achieve both objectives simultaneously. He urged the government to take serious note of growing public concern.
“Protecting ecological assets like KBR Park is essential to preserve a green legacy for future generations,” he said.
