Jawahar Nagar dumping yard issue dominates MMC all‑party meet in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: The Jawahar Nagar dump yard issue dominated discussions at an all-party meeting convened by the Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation on Thursday.

The MMC Commissioner T Vinay Krishna Reddy convened the meeting as per the chief minister A Revanth Reddy’s orders to discuss the Jawahar Nagar dump yard issue and development works within the Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation limits.

The Commissioner invited all-party MLAs and MPs to discuss the issues. For the first time, the high-ranking official held the meeting after the formation of the MMC.

Medchal BRS MLA Ch Malla Reddy said the problem intensified due to all the waste from three commissionerates being sent to Jawahar Nagar and stated that pollution reached dangerous levels.

Maheswaram BRS MLA P Sabitha Indra Reddy suggested immediate corrective measures for deficiencies in dump yard management and emphasised the need for improvement in waste collection and management.

LB Nagar BRS MLA D Sudhir Reddy suggested completing delayed works quickly due to budget constraints, emphasised focusing on roads and community infrastructure, and the effective implementation of waste management.

Malkajgiri BRS MLA Marri Rajasekhar Reddy said that the departments should work in coordination division-wise, and water supply deficiencies should be rectified.

Uppal BRS MLA Bandari Laxma Reddy said that the Ramky’s agency performance should be reviewed, development works in colonies should be expedited.

Etala Rajender, Malkajgiri BJP MP suggested setting up small dumping yards in the surrounding areas of Nagaram to alleviate the Jawahar Nagar dump yard issue.

MLC Patnam Mahender Reddy said Ramky’s management of the dump yard is inadequate and stated that the dump yard is contaminating groundwater.

During the meeting, MMC officials explained various development works being carried out within the Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation limits through a PowerPoint presentation.

All public representatives decided to visit the Jawahar Nagar dump yard on Friday, along with officials, to resolve the issue.
