Viswanathan Anand to receive SJFI Medal 2024 in Chennai

Hyderabad: The Sports Journalists Federation of India announced that Viswanathan Anand, one of India’s most celebrated sporting legends and former World Chess Champion, has graciously consented to receive the prestigious SJFI Medal 2024.

“The award presentation ceremony will be held on June 24 in Chennai in the presence of distinguished guests, eminent sports personalities, senior sports journalists and members of the sporting fraternity,” said Ramesh Varikuppala, secretary of SJFI.


“Mr Anand’s extraordinary contribution to Indian sports and his remarkable achievements in the world of chess have brought immense pride to the nation and continue to inspire generations,” he said.

“The SJFI considers it a matter of great honour and privilege to present the SJFI Medal 2024 to such an iconic sports personality and looks forward to celebrating the memorable occasion with pride and admiration,” Ramesh said.
