Bhainsa Municipal councilors protest stalling of election of co-option members

Nirmal: Election of co-option members in Bhainsa municipality was abruptly stopped, leading to protests from the members on Monday night. The election slated to be held on Tuesday turned into a controversy with the Municipal Commissioner Lingaiah issuing an order stalling the election of the three co-option members leading to a strong protest from the other councilors.

High drama prevailed in the municipality after the councilors staged a sit-in in front of the municipality, demanding the conduct of elections without any delay on Monday night. Election of a co-option members was organized in the past.


Expressing anger against the stance of the commissioner, Bhainsa municipal chairperson Dattadri, vice-chairperson Siddiqui and councilors launched the protest demanding him to conduct elections immediately.

The agitating members of the governing council of Bhainsa accused the commissioner of succumbing to pressure exerted by AIMIM councilors. They alleged that Lingaiah had become a puppet of AIMIM. They declared that they would call for Bandh of Bhainsa town if the election of the members was not held on Tuesday. They termed the stalling of the election as an irrational decision made by the commissioner.
