Harish Rao hits out at Congress govt over neglect of welfare measures

Nalgonda: BRSLP deputy leader T Harish Rao blamed the Congress government for destroying the livelihoods of farmers, while failing to implement major welfare measures promised during the election.

He asked Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and Irrigation Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy to come to the rescue of farmers who were in deep crisis, and take necessary measures immediately.

Addressing a large gathering of BRS workers at Kodad in Suryapet district, Harish Rao said the Congress government had deceived unemployed youth, students, women and farmers with unfulfilled assurances on jobs, fee reimbursement and welfare schemes. He stated that benefits meant for SC, ST and minority communities had been halted under the present administration.

He said the previous BRS government continued welfare and crop procurement operations even during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“While Corona virus claimed lives, the Congress government is destroying the livelihoods and spirit of farmers,” he remarked.

The former Minister accused the Congress government of failing to ensure adequate supply of fertilisers, power and irrigation, while also delaying paddy procurement. He alleged that despite claims of procuring 90 lakh tonnes of paddy during the Yasangi season, the government had procured only 18 lakh tonnes so far.

Harish Rao criticised Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy for focusing on Delhi trips instead of farmers’ problems. He urged the Ministers to visit procurement centres and threshing floors to witness the ground situation.

He said irrigation projects such as Kaleshwaram and SRSP Phase-II completed during the BRS rule, had transformed agriculture in the Kodad region.

Asserting that the next government will be formed by BRS in Telangana, he warned that officials allegedly harassing BRS workers with political motives, will not be spared when the party returns to power.
