Adilabad: A gang involved in creating fake Aadhaar cards, voter ID cards and birth certificates was busted, with police arresting five persons in Mavala. Nearly 300 digital documents and five mobile phones were seized from them. One accused person was absconding.
Briefing the details to media persons here on Thursday, SP Akhil Mahajan said Osa Ravi Kumar, Shaik Zameer, Abdul Muzahid, Abdul Tanwir and Adapa Santosh, all from Mavala, were taken into custody for their role in the manufacturing of fake Aadhaar and voter ID cards. Another accused person, Junaid, was still at large.
During interrogation, the five confessed to collecting anywhere between Rs 1,500 and Rs 3,000 for an identity card. They revealed that they were creating the cards and certificates using editing applications and mobile phones. They disclosed that they gained the trust of the public by promising to help them avail government welfare schemes.
