BRS leaders T. Jeevan Reddy and N. Diwakar Reddy demanded criminal action against officials and Rs 50 lakh compensation for families of four farmers killed in a shed collapse, alleging negligence and delays in paddy procurement during the Yasangi season.

Mancherial: BRS leader T Jeevan Reddy demanded that the government take criminal action against higher officials and to provide compensation of Rs 50 lakh to kin of four farmers each who died when walls of tin-roofed sheds collapsed on them. He along with Mancherial former MLA N Diwakar Reddy blocked the traffic on a road in Luxettipet protesting the negligence of officials on Wednesday.
Jeevan Reddy said the negligence of the higher officials resulted in the mishap. He slammed the government for delay in procuring paddy this Yasangi season. He wanted the government to initiate action against the officials and to release the compensation to the kin of each farmer at the earliest. He recalled that the procurement process used to be a smooth affair during the regime of BRS.
Diwakar Rao also criticized the government for causing inconvenience by delaying the procurement process. He said that apathy of officials resulted in the death of four farmers. He demanded that the government release immediate relief to family members of the victims. He urged officials to take preventive measures to avoid such incidents in future.
Earlier, the two leaders visited the injured farmers at a government hospital in Luxettipet. They assured to extend all support to the farmers.
