Hyderabad police have intensified vigil ahead of Eid-ul-Adha, holding meetings with gau rakshak groups and cattle traders to prevent clashes. Check-posts and patrol teams have been deployed across commissionerates to monitor cattle transportation and enforce laws.

Hyderabad: With the Eid-ul-Adha festival to be celebrated during the month-end and cattle business picking up, the police have stepped up vigil in and around the city to prevent skirmishes involving gau rakshak groups and cattle traders.
The police have conducted meetings with the gau rakshak groups and have asked them not to waylay vehicles carrying cattle and ,if they have any suspicion, to inform the police.
The meetings were conducted by the police across all the four commissionerates of Hyderabad, Cyberabad, Rachakonda and Future City covering the city and its suburbs.
The police warned of stringent action against anyone found violating the laws and at the same time assured to initiate action against anyone found violating the cattle transportation rules.
Separate meetings were held by the police with the cattle traders where the businessmen were briefed about relevant laws regarding the cattle transportation, slaughter and animal cruelty. The traders were asked to keep the cattle meant for sale away from the thoroughfares to avoid traffic issues.
Meanwhile, the police have set up check posts around the city and the highways to prevent illegal transportation of cattle from districts and weekly shanties in the districts. The check posts will function round the clock and a team headed by local Sub-Inspector of police and also officials of animal husbandry department will be present there to check the documents.
The police also formed special teams to patrol the highways to prevent any skirmishes between the cow vigilante groups and cattle traders. The local police were also asked to brief the police patrol vehicles about the necessity for quick action in case of any skirmish regarding cattle trade or transportation.
