A fast-track court in Bellampalli sentenced a kirana shop owner to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 for sexually assaulting a six-year-old girl in 2020 under provisions of the POCSO Act

Mancherial: A court in Bellampalli on Monday sentenced a man to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 for raping a minor girl six years ago.
Fast-track court judge Lalsingh Srinivas Naik convicted Banda Saikrishna, a kirana shop owner from Bellampalli, and sentenced him to undergo a 20-year jail term along with a fine of Rs 10,000.
Saikrishna had sexually assaulted a six-year-old girl on October 21, 2020. He allegedly took the girl into his shop forcibly when she was playing in front of her residence. A case was booked against Saikrishna under the POCSO Act.
The then inspector B Raju investigated the case and filed a charge sheet before the court.
