Donor support helps Hyderabad trust replace 129 dialysis machines

Hyderabad: Bhagwan Mahavir Jain Relief Foundation Trust (BMJRFT), which is involved in providing affordable dialysis services to poor patients in Hyderabad, has replaced a total of 129 dialysis machines worth Rs 12 crore through its donor support, a press release said.

Typically, dialysis machines have a lifespan of around 20,000 sessions or 5 to 7 years. However, through efficient management and maintenance, the Trust has managed to extend the life of its machines to 30,000 to 35,000 sessions.

Recently, when the Trust decided to replace the worn-out dialysis machines with new ones, it was able to do so by mobilising donor support within a short span.

The Trust, which offers a single dialysis session for Rs 300 compared to Rs 2,500 to Rs 5,000 in corporate hospitals, recently felicitated the donors who contributed to the cause of procuring new dialysis machines

Contributors for procurement of new dialysis machines included NMDC, corporates, industrialists, jewellers, businessmen and real estate builders who together raised enough funds to procure 129 dialysis machines.
