TGSRTC strike had begun all over the state from Midnight

Hyderabad: The public transport services at various places across the State came to a standstill as employees of the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) have launched an indefinite strike from midnight on Tuesday after talks with the government failed to yield a breakthrough.

Since Wednesday morning, bus operations were halted at depots statewide, with vehicles remaining parked and not venturing onto roads.

Meanwhile, police personnel were deployed at several depots to maintain order as workers staged protests, insisting that the agitation would continue until their demands are addressed.

The impact of the strike was visible immediately, with commuters facing significant hardship.

In Hyderabad, the government had arranged a limited number of hired buses on busy routes, but these proved insufficient to meet immediate demand. Passengers in multiple districts reported disruptions to daily travel.

In one instance, cricket fans in Uppal struggled to find transport late at night after the match between SRH and DC on Tuesday night, highlighting the sudden impact of the shutdown.

Meanwhile, TGSRTC Vice Chairman and Managing Director Y. Nagi Reddy said the government remains open to resolving the issues raised by employees. He noted that a committee of IAS officers has been constituted to examine the demands.

The MD said some of the issues involve financial complexities and require detailed assessment, which may take around four weeks. He added that solutions would be implemented in phases.
