Hyderabad: Rashtrapati Nilayam, an official retreat home of the President of India, conducted CPR and First Aid awareness programmes called ‘Hands-on-Heart’ sessions on Wednesday, on its premises, Bolarum in Secunderabad.
Around 620 school and college students from 16 institutions and Rashtrapati Nilayam staff took part in the session. The CPR and First Aid sessions were conducted under the guidance of an expert team of doctors and medical student volunteers from the Rotaract Club of Osmania Medical College, according to a press release.
The participants practised CPR techniques on mannequins, learning the proper hand placement, compression depth and rescue breathing-critical components of effective resuscitation.
The training was initiated with an interactive demonstration by Dr Anitha Bhalla, professor and Head of the Department of Cardiac Surgery, Osmania General & Chest Hospital.
