Male passengers get free travel facility in TGRTC buses in Mancherial

Mancherial: Not only women passengers, but male passengers were also allowed to travel in TGRTC buses for free, following the indefinite strike launched by the staffers of the public transport system from Tuesday midnight, affecting services.

TGRTC officials said that buses were being operated by private drivers and without conductors to avoid inconvenience to passengers caused by the strike in the district. They stated that both beneficiaries of the free bus travel scheme and male passengers were allowed to utilise the services without needing to buy tickets to reach their destinations.

The buses were packed with passengers, with officials permitting both female and male passengers to travel in the public transport system for free. The officials stated that services were hampered by the strike. It was learnt that the officials were recruiting drivers and conductors on a temporary basis to run the hired services in the wake of the strike.

In the meantime, bus depots wore a deserted look, with the services of the transport system coming to a halt following the state-wide strike. Police personnel were deployed at the depots. Staffers of the corporation raised slogans against the government for failing to address their demands. They regretted that the government was showing disinterest in resolving their issues.
