Hyderabad: Two persons who were using a vehicle registration number allotted to another vehicle to evade challans were booked by the Kachiguda police on Wednesday.
According to the police, the two persons Shaik Abbu Baba, owner of a two-wheeler and Shaik Rehan, vehicle user, had removed the number plate of their vehicle Hero-Glamour bearing registration number (TS08 FB 2768) to another number TS08 FE 2768 alloted to Honda-Activa to evade traffic challans.
The change of an alphabet from B to E resulted in traffic challans generated on the vehicle of Rehan being sent to another vehicle owner. The minor change gave ground to Shaik Rehan to make excuses for the change of alphabet, claiming it was due to wear and tear of the number plate when they were caught by traffic police.
The traffic police recently received a complaint from the owner of the vehicle bearing number TS08 FE 2768 about wrong challans and identified the persons before registering a case.
The duo had committed multiple traffic violations and the penalties were imposed on the registration number belonging to the other vehicle.
Citizens have been advised to report any suspected misuse of vehicle registration number plates through:
