The Excise Department seized 25.5 kg of ganja from three persons transporting it from Odisha to Bengaluru via train. The contraband, valued at Rs 12.50 lakh, was intercepted at Vikarabad. Efforts are on to nab the supplier

Ganja worth Rs 12.5 lakh seized on Palnadu Express

Hyderabad: The Prohibition and Excise Department, Ranga Reddy enforcement team on Wednesday seized 25.5 kg of ganja from three persons who were transporting it from Odisha to Bengaluru. The value of the seized ganja is Rs 12.50 lakh.

According to the Assistant Commissioner, Prohibition and Excise, R Kishan, the ganja was transported from Odisha to Guntur on the Palnadu Express by an individual who, on reaching Guntur, handed it over to three persons. The trio were asked to transport the contraband to Bengaluru from Guntur and were paid Rs 10,000 for the task.


“On information, our team caught the three individuals — Karri Ramanamma, Arli Lavamma, and Arli Govind — while they were transporting the ganja on the train at Vikarabad. Efforts are on to nab the supplier and other persons involved in the case,” said R Kishan, Assistant Commissioner.

A case has been registered under the NDPS Act against them.
