Hyderabad: Unidentified persons allegedly stole a silver idol from a temple in Secunderabad on Monday.
The theft came to light in the early hours when residents of IDH Colony, under the Bansilalpet division, noticed that the idol of Goddess Adivi Maisamma was missing from a temple that houses three deities including Katta Maisamma, Uppulamma and Adivi Maisamma in the same temple premises.
According to locals, the stolen idol was made of silver and weighed over three kilograms. While thefts of ornaments from temples have been reported in the past, the removal of an entire idol has triggered alarm among devotees in the area.
