Hyderabad: The Cyberabad Economic Offences Wing (EOW) officials have registered a case against Sandhya Constructions owner Saranala Sridhar Rao and his wife Sandhya on charges of allegedly cheating a Delhi-based firm to the tune of Rs 14.85 crore in a land deal.
According to the complaint, Athena Projects Private Limited was exploring land acquisitions in Hyderabad in 2021 when the accused reportedly approached the company, claiming ownership of several land parcels. They allegedly presented documents to support their claims and convinced the firm to pay a substantial advance for the proposed sale.
Police alleged that the couple failed to complete the transaction after receiving the money and later became untraceable. When the company sought a refund, Sridhar Rao allegedly issued threats, as per the complaint.
Following a complaint by Athena Projects director Vijay Bhaskar, a case was booked and is being investigated.
Police officials are examining claims that the accused firm was later renamed from Sandhya Constructions Private Limited to Sandhya Hotels Private Limited, along with allegations of prior criminal history linked to Sridhar Rao.
Further investigation is on.
