Hyderabad: A woman constable attempted suicide at Yousufguda after her husband, who is also a constable, asked her to undergo an abortion.
The constable working at Panjagutta police station married her colleague in June 2025 at a temple in Madurai, Tamil Nadu. “A difference arose between the couple as the woman wanted to continue her pregnancy while her husband was forcing her to undergo an abortion as he intended to marry another woman,” an official said.
On April 14, the woman consumed 28 tablets at her residence located at Yousufguda. Two days later, she informed her friend, who rushed her to a private hospital on Thursday evening. The lady constable is currently undergoing treatment.
