Two persons died and four others were injured in a multi-vehicle accident on the Khammam-Aswaraopet highway. A truck, auto-rickshaw, tractor trolley and an official vehicle were involved. The injured were shifted to Kothagudem hospital for treatment.

Kothagudem: Two persons died and four others were injured in a road accident that occurred on Khammam-Aswaraopet National Highway in the district on Thursday.
Kothagudem additional Collector Venugopal’s car traveling from Khammam towards Aswaraopet, an auto-rickshaw, a truck loaded with rice also traveling towards Aswaraopet and a tractor trolley were involved in the accident.
According to eye-witnesses the truck hit the auto-rickshaw on its front and veered sharply to the right; the auto-rickshaw, in turn, grazed the additional Collector’s car and swerved off to the side.
After striking the auto-rickshaw the truck, which surged to the right side of the road collided with an oncoming tractor trolley belonging to Chemiloids Factory. The labourers riding on the tractor trolley were thrown in all directions with the impact of the collision.
A labourer Kovvasi Nagaraju (36) of Ootlapalli and the tractor driver of Aswaraopet Chitluri Chukkaiah (56) died in the accident. The labourers Madakam Somaraju and Madakam Santhosh Kumar of Eluru district in AP, Soyam Ramesh of Ootlapalli with serious injuries were rushed to Government General Hospital in Kothagudem for treatment.
The auto rickshaw driver G Venkat Rao of Aswaraopet suffered minor injuries and was treated locally. One of the rear side indicators of the additional Collector’s car was damaged partially in the accident and the additional Collector was safe.
