Vaahan portal glitch halts new vehicle registrations in Telangana

Hyderabad: Several vehicle owners are facing mounting frustration reportedly as permanent registration numbers have not been generated for the past several days leaving thousands of new vehicles stuck at showrooms at various places in the State.

The disruption is being linked to the alleged technical issues in the Union government’s Vaahan portal, the centralised software introduced to streamline transport services.

Applications are reportedly not progressing, and both showroom staff and applicants say they are receiving little clarity on the delay.

Many vehicle owners who paid for special registration numbers have reportedly alleged that numbers have neither been allotted nor refunds processed.

Meanwhile, they allege that attempts to reach toll-free helplines, including those of Mee Seva, have largely gone unanswered, adding to the confusion.

Transport department officials, citizens say, when approached, have expressed limited awareness of the technical problems, while Mee Seva personnel and showroom representatives are said to be passing responsibility among themselves without offering concrete solutions.

The situation has also impacted temporary registrations at several places.
Transport department officials were unavailable for comment.
