Hyderabad police hunt for escaped woman prisoner

Hyderabad: The Hussainialam police have intensified efforts to nab the woman prisoner who escaped from the Modern Maternity Hospital at Petlaburj on Monday afternoon.

The woman, Ghantasala Triveni (26), was arrested by the Ramgopalapet police in March in a cybercrime case and remanded to judicial custody. Triveni, who is lodged at the Special Prison for Women, Hyderabad, was brought to the hospital for medical purposes. She was brought to the hospital on three previous occasions for medical purposes.

On Monday, she conned the Armed Reserve woman constable escort and escaped from the hospital. The police, who checked the closed circuit camera network in the hospital, noticed that she went out of the hospital and then returned before disappearing. “We suspect the woman changed her clothes in the hospital and hoodwinked the escort constables. Efforts are on to identify the relatives and friends of Triveni to gather clues,” said an official of Hussainialam police station.
