Hyderabad: The Chaderghat police on Tuesday busted a counterfeit currency racket and caught one person who was allegedly circulating it.
According to the police, the man, Ahmed Pasha (33), a resident of Hafeez Babanagar, collected the fake currency from a person from Gujarat and was circulating it in the market.
“In March end, Pasha deposited 10 fake currency notes in the Cash Recycler Machine of Kotak Mahindra Bank, and it was detected by the bank staff. Based on the source of the currency, the police took Ahmed Pasha into custody. He admitted to having purchased the fake currency in Shadnagar from a person who is from Gujarat,” said Khare Kiran Prabhakar, DCP, Charminar zone.
Efforts are on to nab the prime suspect in the case.
