‘With Gaza forever’: Istanbul protesters march on US consulate, call America ‘real devil’

Turkish protesters rally in front of the US Consulate General in Istanbul to slam US support for the Israeli war on Gaza.

Turkey’s pro-Palestinian protesters have staged a protest rally in front of the US Consulate General in Istanbul to express their solidarity with Gazans trapped under Israeli fire.

The demonstrators marched towards the US Consulate on Sunday after Islamic NGOs made a call for a protest march on New Year’s Eve to protest the aid to Israel, which has been pounding Gaza since October 7.

The protesters held up banners reading (Turkish) “We are cursing Israel’s partner in crime, USA.” Another placard read, “Patron of the Zionist gang USA, get out of the Middle East.”

Some protesters were chanting “Murderer America, get out of the Middle East”, “Here is the nest of murderers” and “Commerce with baby killers is not trade, it’s murder”.

A protester chanted “Hey Gaza, we are with you until death.”

One protester blamed the ongoing violence on US foreign policy and Washington’s continuous support for the Tel Aviv regime.

“After the global imperialism invaded every part of the world, Gaza is the last point to remain independent. The babies who remain independent are the babies who rebel against this imperialism and fascism, and the main player there is America. That’s why we’re walking to the American consulate. The real devil is America. Their counterparts are Zionism and Judaism. Their (Israel’s) muscle is America,” said Dr. Mehmet Arslan, a protester.

Istanbul Provincial Chairman of Anadolu Youth Association (AGD), Mehmet Yaroglu, released a press statement, saying the US is the patron and accomplice to the occupying Israeli regime.

“We hereby declare that we are on the same side with them, that we are members of the same body. Our heart, body and soul are with them.”

Israel’s brutal military offensive in the Strip has killed more than 21,800 people and wounded over 56,000 others.

Now, drop off baggage, check-in, get boarding passes at car parking in Hyderabad International Airport

Hyderabad: GMR Hyderabad International Airport (GHIAL), here on Monday, announced the launch of “City-Side Self Check-In” facility at the car parking area for convenience for air travellers.

The new launch enables passengers to check in, drop off their baggage, and obtain their boarding passes at the car parking, even before entering the terminal. The move is expected to significantly enhance the airport experience and streamline the departure process further.

Expressing enthusiasm over this milestone, GMR Airports ED- South & Chief Innovation Officer, SGK Kishore, said, “We are excited to introduce the city side check- in facility to the passengers. We are always looking for innovative solutions to make the airport experiential. This feature of the airport offers that experience to our passengers. It is a significant step toward alleviating congestion within the terminal building and offering passengers a more relaxed, efficient, and stress-free start to their journeys.”

The city–side self-check-in facility, located at the car parking level provides a range of self-service amenities. Passengers can use self-check in kiosks, stay informed with flight information display systems, and drop their baggage at the self-baggage drop counters.

Passengers can make use of the self-check-in facility through a simple two-step procedure-

Step 1: Check-in at the Kiosks
• Passengers can use the self-service check-in kiosks at the entry of the facility for a regular check-in process. At the check in, passengers will receive their boarding pass and bag tags, which they need to tag to their baggage.

• Passengers can then proceed to the self-bag drop unit and place their baggage on the conveyor belt.
• At the self-bag drop unit, the baggage is processed, and a confirmation message is sent to the respective airline. An acknowledgement is sent to passengers whose bag has been processed.

The city-side check-in facility opens six hours before the flight (D-6 Hours) and closes one hour before departure (D-1 Hrs). Covid Alert: 196 cases of JN.1 sub-variant detected in country

New Delhi: A total of 196 cases of COVID-19 sub-variant JN.1 have been detected in the country so far, with Odisha joining the list of states that have detected the presence of the variant, according to the INSACOG’s data updated on Monday.

Ten states and Union territories have so far detected the presence of the JN.1 sub-variant of the virus.

These states are Kerala (83), Goa (51), Gujarat (34), Karnataka (eight), Maharashtra (seven), Rajasthan (five), Tamil Nadu (four), Telangana (two) Odisha (one) and Delhi (one), according to the Indian SARS-CoV-2 Genomics Consortium (INSACOG).

The INSACOG’s data showed 179 Covid cases recorded in the country in December had the presence of JN.1, while 17 such cases were detected in November.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) has classified JN.1 as a separate “variant of interest” given its rapidly-increasing spread, but said it poses a “low” global public health risk.

The JN.1 sub-variant of the coronavirus was previously classified as a variant of interest (VOI) as part of the BA.2.86 sub-lineages, the parent lineage that is classified as a VOI, the world body said.

However, in recent weeks, JN.1 cases continued to be reported from multiple countries and its prevalence has rapidly increased globally.

The Centre has asked the states and Union territories to maintain a constant vigil amid an uptick in the number of Covid cases and the detection of the JN.1 sub-variant in the country.

India has recorded 636 new coronavirus infections, while the active cases stood at 4,394, according to the data released by the Health ministry on Monday.

According to reports, Toyama prefecture on the western coast of Japan also reported tsunami waves of 50 centimeters at 4:23 p.m. local time, Xinhua news agency reported.

Torrents of water could reach as high as 5 meters and authorities urged people to flee to high land or a top of a nearby building as quickly as possible, according to NHK.

East Japan Railway Co. suspended operations of all Tohoku, Joetsu and Hokuriku Shinkansen lines due to the earthquakes, Kyodo News reported.

Iraqi resistance targets US military base in northeastern Syria

Iraqi resistance forces target a US-occupied military base in Syria’s northeastern province of Hasakah in retaliation for Washington’s support of the bloody Israeli onslaught against the Gaza Strip.

Sabereen News, a Telegram news channel associated with Iraqi anti-terror Popular Mobilization Units (PMU), reported that the American military base in al-Shaddadi town, located about 50 kilometers (31 miles) south of Hasakah, was struck on Monday.

The development came hours after the Islamic Resistance in Iraq, an umbrella group of anti-terror fighters, claimed responsibility for the strike on the port of Eilat in the southern flank of the 1948 Israeli-occupied territories.

In a statement released through its Telegram channel, the group noted that the attack was carried out in retaliation for US support of Israel’s bloody war against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.

On Sunday evening, Iraqi resistance fighters launched an attack against a US military base near Erbil International Airport in Iraq’s semi-autonomous Kurdistan region.

The strikes on the US-run military installation in Iraq and Syria come amid growing anti-US sentiments in the region over Washington’s support for Israel’s war on Gaza, which has killed at least 21,822 people, most of them women and children. More than 56,451 individuals have been wounded as well.

The Israeli regime launched the war after Gaza’s resistance groups conducted Operation Al-Aqsa Storm, their biggest operation against the occupying entity in years.

Since the onset of the war on October 7, the United States has backed Israel’s ferocious attacks on Palestinian territory as a means of “self-defense.”

Washington has also vetoed United Nations Security Council resolutions that called for a ceasefire in Gaza.
