Yemeni official vows revenge on US, UK

By attacking a Yemeni navy vessel, they ignited a war that they will never be able to get out of easily, and will pay a heavy price for it, al-Qahhoum was quoted by the Russian media Sputnik as saying.

Earlier on Monday, a member of the Political Council of the Ansarullah Movement Mohammed al-Bukhaiti said that the Yemeni armed forces are willing to stand against the US.

If the US vessels attack Yemen, they will be directly targeted and the Americans are aware of the seriousness of this decision, he added.

He also asked why the rest of the Arab and Islamic countries did not join it in the framework of the joint defense agreement signed with Palestine.

Meanwhile, Army Spokesman Yahya Saree said in a statement on Sunday that the US attacked three boats in the Red Sea earlier in the day and killed ten Yemeni armed forces, stressing that Washington would suffer from the consequences of targeting the vessels.

According to Saree, the Yemeni boats were in the Red Sea to conduct a military operation against the Maersk Hangzhou vessel that was heading for the ports of occupied Palestine. He said that the vessel was targeted after its crew did not respond to the Yemeni army’s warnings.

The Yemeni army spokesman advised all countries not to be dragged into US plots, stressing that American forces’ actions to protect Israeli ships in the Red Sea would not stop the Yemeni army from supporting the people of Gaza.

Kishan Reddy asks CM to seek CBI probe into Kaleshwaram

Hyderabad: Accusing the Congress government of going soft on the BRS on the issue of alleged corruption during its tenure, BJP State president G Kishan Reddy demanded Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy to make his government’s stand clear on the issue of ordering a CBI probe into the alleged irregularities in the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project.

Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, Kishan Reddy said before coming to power, Revanth Reddy had demanded the Centre to order a CBI probe into the Kaleshwaram Project, but now he was not taking any measure in that direction.

“Though over 25 days have passed since he assumed office, Revanth Reddy has so far not written to the centre seeking a CBI probe into Kaleshwaram. If the CM writes to the centre for a CBI probe, I will see that it starts within 48 hours,” he said.

Stating that since the Congress did not have an absolute majority in the State assembly, it was going slow on the irregularities committed by the previous BRS government, Kishan Reddy alleged that both the Congress and the BRS had come to an understanding and were trying to delay the probe into Kaleshwaram.

Commenting on the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, the State BJP president said on January 7 and 8, State election team meetings would be organised and a new election committee would be constituted to prepare the party for the polls. Stating that there was a lot of demand for BJP Lok Sabha tickets, he said the party had eight candidates ready and it was looking candidates for the rest of the seats. “Our central leadership will finalise the candidates shortly. Party is in favour of announcing the candidates in advance,”he said.

He said the party was expecting the Election Commission of India to issue a poll notification in the end of February or March first week.

Responding to the issue of State BJP legislative party leader selection issue, Kishan Reddy said shortly the legislative party leader would be selected. “BJP central observers will be coming to the State soon to finalise the BJPLP leader,”he said.

Iran has asked Iraq to extradite 38 separatist terrorists: Top rights official

Iran’s top human rights official says the Islamic Republic has called upon Iraqi authorities to extradite 38 main members of separatist and terrorist groups holed up in the Arab country’s semi-autonomous Kurdistan region.

Kazem Gharibabadi, secretary of Iran’s High Council for Human Rights, made the remarks on the sidelines of the fourth trial session of the members of the Mujahedin-e-Khalq Organization (MKO) terrorist group, which was held in absentia in the capital Tehran on Tuesday.

Iran has urged the central government in Iraq and authorities in Kurdistan to meet their commitments toward Iran and take necessary measures to secure the border.

The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) has launched several rounds of airstrikes against the positions of the terrorists who are holed up in Iraqi Kurdistan.

On November 21, 2022, positions of anti-Iran separatist and terrorist groups in northern Iraq came under combined attacks using missiles and kamikaze drones. The strikes targeted the positions of the notorious Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan (PDKI) and the Komala Party in northern Iraqi Kurdistan, Iran’s Arabic-language Al-Alam television news network reported at the time.

According to the network, one attack saw four missiles being fired against a PDKI position in the town of Koy Sanjaq in Erbil Province. A separate attack featured kamikaze drones smashing into another site belonging to the group near the Baharka village.

Simultaneously, kamikaze drones struck positions associated with Komala across two locations near the city of Sulaymaniyah.

Elsewhere in his remarks on Tuesday, Gharibabadi noted that Iran has not limited its legal actions simply to MKO terrorists, but has also taken measures against Pakistan-based so-called Ansar-ul-Furqan and Jaish-ul-Adl terrorist groups.

Members of the latter terror outfit are wanted for a vicious terrorist assault on Rask County’s police headquarters in the southeastern Iranian province of Sistan and Baluchestan on December 15 last year.

The assault claimed the lives of 11 police forces, including officers and conscripts, and left several others wounded.

Gharibabadi further said that Iran has the necessary means at its disposal to implement its court rulings against the terrorists, saying, “The countries now sheltering the terrorists will have no reason to support them or would at least opt to expel the individuals once we hand down the verdicts.”

He described terrorism as one of the most horrific crimes being committed in the world with the support of certain so-called advocates of human rights.

Gharibabadi underscored that Iran has been the biggest victim of terrorist acts, and some 23 thousand Iranian nationals have fallen victim to acts of terror.

Thousands of Gaza cancer patients face deadly treatment delays

More than 10,000 cancer patients in Gaza do not have access to life-saving treatments following the forced shutdown of the only cancer hospital amid the Israeli war, according to health authorities.

Cancer patients are enduring “unbearable” and “inhumane” conditions in the besieged territory, Palestinian news agency WAFA quoted local health officials as saying on Tuesday.

The report added that patients do not have access to specialized cancer treatment medications.

“After the Turkish-Palestinian Friendship Hospital for Cancer was forced to go out of service, 10,000 cancer patients are facing compelling and inhumane circumstances,” Dr. Subhi Skaik, director of the cancer hospital, said in a statement on Monday.

Gaza’s healthcare system has suffered a complete breakdown as a result of the extensive bombardment carried out by Israeli forces after it unleashed a war on Gaza on October 7.

According to WAFA, the third and final floor of the Palestinian-Turkish Friendship Hospital was targeted by Israeli airstrikes on October 30, causing significant damage and rendering the hospital out of service.

Two days later, Palestinian health authorities said the hospital was closed as it ran out of fuel amid the Israeli regime’s crippling blockade of the territory.

Financed by the Turkish government, the hospital stands as one of the largest medical facilities in Palestine. Covering an area of 34,800 square meters and spanning three floors, the hospital had 180 beds.

The absence of this crucial medical facility exacerbates the already challenging situation for cancer patients in the besieged enclave.

WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, in a post on social media, said strikes on the Turkish-Palestinian Friendship Hospital in Gaza were “terribly concerning.”

“Cancer patients are already fragile, and it’s imperative to do everything possible to ensure they’re receiving the care they need, it’s truly a matter of life or death,” he wrote.

Israel’s siege on Gaza has led to a severe shortage of food, water, as well as electricity and fuel.

The acute fuel shortage has made the provision of adequate healthcare services extremely challenging as vital equipment at hospitals cannot operate, putting those in intensive care units at extreme risk.

More than 22,000 people, most of them children and women, have been killed in Gaza since the onset of the Israeli military campaign following an operation by Gaza’s resistance movements.

Visuals showed flames coming out of the windows and the plane’s nose on the ground.

Five of the six people on the coast uard plane that reportedly collided with a Japan Airlines plane on the runway of Tokyo’s Haneda Airport today are unaccounted for, broadcaster NHK said. “There were 6 people in the aircraft, of which one escaped, and the safety of five people is unknown,” the Japan Coast Guard told NHK.

The coast guard aircraft was an Ma72 fixed-wing aircraft, it said.

The accident came a day after a powerful earthquake struck central Japan on Monday, killing at least 30 people, destroying buildings and knocking out power to tens of thousands of homes. The Jiji news agency reported the coast guard plane was scheduled to leave to help with rescue efforts following a massive earthquake in central Japan.

The Japan Airlines plane was sen moving along the runaway a large explosion of orange flames exploded from beneath and behind it. All 379, including eight children and 12 crew members, on board the Airbus plane have been evacuated.

Visuals showed flames coming out of the windows and the plane’s nose on the ground as rescue workers sprayed it. Burning debris were also seen on the runway. As per reports, more than 70 fire engines have been deployed to extinguish the fire.

Reports said that the plane had just arrived from Sapporo airport on the northern Japanese island of Hokkaido. A coast guard official at Haneda Airport, one of the world’s busiest, said they were “checking details”.

All runways at the Haneda airport have been closed after the accident, an official said.

Japan has not suffered a serious commercial aviation accident in decades.

Its worst ever was in 1985, when a JAL jumbo jet flying from Tokyo to Osaka crashed in central Gunma region, killing 520 passengers and crew.

That disaster was one of the world’s deadliest plane crashes involving a single flight.

Cautious celebrations: Numaish opens amidst Covid scare in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Hyderabadi’s can’t think of the New Year without the Numaish. It’s no different this year. But as the 83rd edition of the All India Industrial Exhibition got underway, there was a cautious jubilation. The eagerly looked forward to consumer fair comes amidst reports of a spike in Covid cases. Will it impact the Numaish? Authorities brush off concerns, asserting the show must go on.

However, it remains a worrisome point with visitors who flock the trade fair in thousands. Even on the first day the sprawling ground teemed with anticipation. Colourul banners, tastefully decked up stalls and old movie numbers seemed to cast a spell. At 40 rupees, it is the most inexpensive amusement which families don’t want to miss. Yet, beneath the festivities, a collective unease lingers. Would the virus disrupt the cherished celebrations? In 2022 the exhibition had to be indefinitely suspended amidst spread of the Omicron variant and sharp rise in Covid cases.

IT Minister and Exhibition Society president, D. Sridhar Babu, has appealed to visitors to mandatorily wear masks while coming to the exhibition and strictly adhere to the Covid norms. The Exhibition Society has provided a Covid vaccination facility and a medical check-up centre for the benefit of visitors.

The first day passed off smoothly with laughter and excitement in the air. The annual carnival forges ahead, a symbol of resilience against adversity. However, an undercurrent of caution pulses through the attendees as not many are seen donning the mask. Few seem concerned about striking a balance between revelry and responsibility.

How the Numaish started

All big things have small beginnings. It is no different with Numaish, the most popular consumer fair of Hyderabad. But the grandeur of the present spectacle contrasts starkly with its humble origins in 1938. Back then, this vibrant gathering of commerce and culture was a modest affair. The ‘Numaish Masnuat-e-Mulki’ as it was originally called, was inaugurated by the 7th Nizam, Mir Osman Ali Khan, coinciding with his birth anniversary in Public Gardens. The first Numaish lasted for just 10 days and the next year it was organised for 15 days. As its popularity grew, it was extended for a whole month. The annual show was shifted to its present location in 1946 by Sir Mirza Ismail, the then Prime Minister.

The idea of an exhibition was first mooted by the Economic Committee of the Osmania Graduates’ Association to raise funds for conducting an economic survey of the State. When the proposal was put before the then Prime Minister, Sir Akbar Hyderi, he liked it. As the Numaish gained momentum it grew both in content and coverage drawing visitors by the thousands. It was christened as the All India Industrial Exhibition in 1948. The then Governor General of India, C. Rajagopalchari, inaugurated it in its new avatar.

The terrorist grouplet MKO alone has assassinated some 17,000 Iranians over the past four decades, he said adding that no country has been a victim of terrorism like Iran and the number of victims of terrorism in Iran is more than 17,000 people.
