'Rohit Sharma' Placards Not Allowed At Wankhede? Video Goes Viral

Mumbai Indians had a very torrid start to their home campaign at the IPL 2024 against Rajasthan Royals on Monday as their batters failed to fire. It has been a season to forget for Mumbai Indians with three successive losses seeing them at the bottom of the 10-team points table. To add to MI’s troubles, the captaincy change from Rohit Sharma to Hardik Pandya has left many fans angry. Pandya has been getting booed during MI’s matches, same was the case on Monday at the Wankhede Stadium.

In the midst of this a video went viral on social media where it was claimed that a placard on Rohit Sharma and quote from a famous Bollywood movie was not allowed at the Wankhede Stadium. “Rishte mein toh hum tumhare, captain baap lagte hain,” the placard read. It is not clear whether the video is authentic or not. NDTV can’t ascertain if the video was taken outside the Wankhede Stadium.

Rumours have also been rampant that Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) have started planning steps against fans targetting Hardik.

However, MCA have denied the same, saying that they will be following BCCI’s guidelines on crowd behaviour.

“No instructions given for this specific game. There have been set guidelines issued by BCCI on spectators behaviour over the years, that is process that is followed,” an MCA statement read, as quoted by News 18.

Talking about the game, A clinical Rajasthan Royals romped home for a third win on the trot in the Indian Premier League with a six-wicket hammering of Mumbai Indians, whose skipper Hardik Pandya continued to be on the receiving end of fans’ anger, on Monday.

After Yuzvendra Chahal (3/11) and Trent Boult (3/22) combined to suffocate Mumbai Indians with the bat, restricting them to 125/9, Riyan Parag (54 not out) churned out yet another top-drawer knock to take Rajasthan Royals to the first spot in the IPL points table.

The 22-year-old Parag continued to make giant strides this season with a knock that reflected his maturity and aggression, dishing out some spectacular hits while being single-minded to not relent until his side was over the line.

Parag’s knock was studded with five fours and three sixes as Royals reached 127/4 from 15.3 overs, winning with 27 balls to spare.

Meanwhile, there was no letup for Pandya who was booed on several occasions in Mumbai Indians’ first home game. It started with Pandya being booed when he took field for warm-up drills and the fans hit the player hard again when he came out for the toss.

US, UK fighters renew attack on Yemen soil

Yemen’s Al-Masirah announced in a breaking news that the American and British fighters attacked targets in al-Tahita city located in Hodeidah province.

The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) agency said on Monday it received a report of an incident 150 nautical miles northwest of Yemen’s Hodeidah.

“The Master of the vessel reported that they were hailed by an entity claiming to be Yemeni Navy who requested the vessel turn on its automatic identification system,” an advisory note said.

Yemenis have declared their open support for Palestine’s struggle against the Israeli occupation since the regime launched a devastating war on Gaza on October 7 after the territory’s Palestinian Resistance movements carried out a surprise retaliatory attack, dubbed Operation Al-Aqsa Storm, against the occupying entity.

Yemeni Armed Forces have said that they won’t stop their attacks until unrelenting Israeli ground and aerial offensives in Gaza come to an end.

The United States and Britain in December announced a military coalition to target Yemen in support of Israel.

‘Harsh punishment’ awaits Israel over deadly attack on consulate: Iran’s parliament

Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf strongly condemns the deadly Israeli airstrike on Iran’s consulate in the Syrian capital Damascus, warning that the occupying entity will receive “severe punishment” for the terrorist attack.

In a message of condolence issued early on Tuesday, Qalibaf said the naked aggression that saw the cold-blooded killing of a number of “brave and courageous” Iranian military commanders further exposes the viciousness and brutality of the Israeli regime.

It also demonstrates the weakness, helplessness and desperation of the usurping Zionist entity in the face of the resilience and steadfastness of the resistance factions that are operating across the region, added the message.

“The ignorant leaders of the usurping Israeli regime and their advocates had better realize that such vicious acts will not impact the willpower of resistance fighters who are seeking freedom, and their aggressive and malicious moves will be met with severe punishment,” Qalibaf pointed out.

The Monday attack resulted in the martyrdom of Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Zahedi, a commander of the Quds Force of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), his deputy, and five of their accompanying officers.

Iran’s Ambassador to Damascus Hossein Akbari confirmed that the attack had resulted in the martyrdom of seven people, but said the exact number of the martyrs was yet to be specified.

Reacting to the atrocity, Lebanon’s Hezbollah resistance movement said Martyr Zahedi’s “pure blood will result in more determination to resist and confront the arrogant Israeli enemy.”

It said the Israeli regime would be “foolish” to believe that such assassinations could “stop the roaring tide of peoples’ resistance, ” noting that the crime will not go unanswered, and the enemy should await “punishment and revenge.”

The Gaza Strip-based Palestinian resistance movement of Hamas also condemned the attack “in the strongest terms.”

It called the attack “a flagrant violation of international law, an encroachment on the sovereignty of both Syria and Iran, and a dangerous Zionist escalation.”

The movement demanded that the United Nations Security Council take “effective” action to stop the regime’s aggression on the region, “which adds fuel to the fire and undermines international stability and security.”

Iran Calls On "International Community" To Respond To Israel's Syria Attack

Iran Calls On 'International Community' To Respond To Israel's Syria Attack

Tehran:

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian called Monday on the international community to act after the Israeli attack on an Iranian consulate in Damascus killed a senior Guards commander and others.

Amir-Abdollahian, in a telephone conversation with his Syrian counterpart Faisal Mekdad, “blamed the consequences of this action on the Zionist regime and stressed the need for a serious response by the international community to such criminal actions”, according to a statement by Iran’s foreign ministry.

State TV reported that Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Zahedi, “one of the senior commanders” in the Quds Force, the foreign operations arm of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, “was martyred in an attack by Zionist regime fighters on the Islamic Republic of Iran’s consulate building in Damascus.”

The 63-year-old joined the Guards more than four decades ago and has held various senior positions.

Amir-Abdollahian described the attack as a violation of all international obligations and conventions.

“Netanyahu has completely lost his mental balance due to the consecutive failures of the Israeli regime in Gaza and not achieving the ambitious goals of the Zionists,” Iran’s top diplomat added.

He was referring to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, whose country has been at war with Iran-backed Hamas militants in the Gaza Strip for almost six months.

In a separate statement, Iran’s foreign ministry spokesman Nasser Kanani “strongly condemned” the attack and said that Iran “reserves the right to carry out a reaction and will decide on the type of response and the punishment of the aggressor.”

Earlier, Iran’s ambassador in Damascus, Hossein Akbari, said, “the five-storey consulate building was attacked by Israeli F-35 fighter jets and with six missiles.” He did not give the source of his information about the aircraft.

Akbari vowed a “decisive response” as the attack killed “at least five people including three military personnel.”

In a night-time rally held in Palestine Square in central Tehran on Monday, hundreds of demonstrators, waving flags of Iran and Palestine, called for “revenge” and chanted slogans of “Death to America” and “Death to Israel”.

They also burned Israeli and United States flags, according to AFP journalists at the scene.

Iran hailed Hamas’s October 7 attack on Israel, which triggered the war, as a “success” but denied any direct involvement.

Iran-backed groups in Iraq, Lebanon, Syria, and Yemen have since carried out a series of attacks on Israeli and Western targets.

Severe punishment awaits Israeli regime: Parl. speaker

Ghalibaf made the remarks on Tuesday morning, referring to the Israeli regime’s Monday missile attack that targeted the building of Iran’s consulate in the Syrian capital of Damascus and led to the martyrdom of 7 IRGC military advisors.

Saying that the fresh Israeli aggression once again revealed the barbaric nature of this regime, Ghalibaf extended condolences to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Resistance officials, and the families of the martyred IRGC advisors.

The Zionists’ aggressive and abusive actions will be met with a severe punishment, he stressed.

The Israeli regime attacked Iran’s consulate in the Syrian capital of Damascus on Monday evening. The Israeli aggression led to the destruction of the entire building and the martyrdom and injury of the entire people inside it.

Seven of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) military advisors were martyred following the Israeli attack on Iran’s consulate in Damascus on Monday, IRGC said in a statement.

Reacting to the Israeli aggression, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Nasser Kan’ani on Monday night said that the Islamic Republic of Iran, while reserving its rights to take countermeasures, decides on the type of reaction and punishment of the aggressor.

Earlier on Monday, Iran’s Ambassador to Syria stressed that the country will give a decisive response to the Israeli regime.

Vistara Pilot Crisis: Here's Why They Called In Sick En Masse

Several pilots have reported being sick on duty over last few days

The crisis at Vistara Airlines intensified today with dozens of flights cancelled because of the non-availability of pilots who, sources say, are protesting the terms of a new contract after the decision to merge the airline with Air India.

Vistara pilots have sought sick leave en masse, a move prompted by a revised salary structure that the airline was trying to implement ahead of its merger with Air India, a report by NDTV Profit said.

In its email to pilots – which has been reviewed by NDTV Profit – Vistara said that those who do not sign up for the new pay structure would not be allocated a slot on the upgrade sequence list.

They would also not be eligible for the one-time bonus promised to pilots, the email said.

Such pilots will be deemed to not be interested in working with Air India. “Consequently, they will not be included in the transition to Air India,” Vistara further said.

Several pilots called in sick after receiving the email, leading to flight disruptions, sources said.

The airline, co-owned by Tata Group and Singapore Airlines, yesterday said its teams are working to stabilise the situation.

“We have had a significant number of flight cancellations and delays in the past few days due to various reasons including crew unavailability,” a company spokesperson said in a statement.

“Our teams are tirelessly working to stabilizing the situation. We regret the inconvenience caused to our valued customers due to these disruptions,” the spokesperson added.

While 50 flights were cancelled and over were 160 delayed yesterday, about 38 flights have been cancelled this morning.

Vistara is in the process of merging with Air India post its privatisation and Singapore Airlines acquiring a 25.1 per cent stake in the once state-controlled airline.

MrBeast Announces He Is Quitting YouTube, Leaves Internet Confused

The official account of YouTube said, “where was ur 2 weeks??”

Popular internet sensation MrBeast recently announced that he is quitting YouTube and will be “posting to X full time now.” This development has left the fans and supporters of the YouTuber, whose real name is Jimmy Donaldson, confused. Many anticipate that this could be an April Fools prank. Reacting to the news, billionaire Elon Musk replied to his post on X (formerly Twitter) and said, “You should actually”.

Since being shared, Mr Donaldson’s post has amassed over 17 million views and 16 lakh likes. Many internet users were shocked after MrBeast announced the decision.

“Bro please don’t you’re literally the best YouTuber there is. I wake up every morning and pray that you will upload a new YouTube video. The days you upload are the best days of my life. When I get that notification I put on my Mr Beast shirt, get a feastable out of the cupboard, and pour myself a glass of milk to enjoy while I watch your newest video several times. Please rethink this Mr Beast I literally love you,” said  a user.

The official account of YouTube replied to his post and said, “where was ur 2 weeks??”

“It’s April 1st isn’t it,” said a person.

“Almost took it serious then I realized it’s 1st April,” added a person.

A person wrote, “Almost took it serious then I realized it’s 1st April.”

“Thank god, Mr Least. Maybe now you can finally leave your aunt’s basement and get a real job that pays real money,” said another person.

In January, MrBeast uploaded a video “directly” on Elon Musk-owned microblogging platform and amassed 161 million views in eight days. The video was widely shared on the platform by Mr Musk and X Chief Executive Officer Linda Yaccarino. The internet sensation stated that his clip titled “$1 vs $100,000,000 Car” made over $2,50,000 (approximately Rs 2 crore). However, the YouTuber called the whole experience a “facade”.

“MY FIRST X VIDEO MADE OVER $250,000. But it’s a bit of a facade. Advertisers saw the attention it was getting and bought ads on my video (I think) and thus my revenue per view is prob higher than what you’d experience,” the YouTuber posted on X and shared a screenshot of his account’s analytics as proof. As per the screengrab, he will make $263,655 off his video. In another post, he wrote, “I’m gonna give 10 random people that repost this and follow me $25,000 for fun (the $250,000 my X video made).”

It is to be noted that in contrast to YouTube, which merely needs 1,000 subscribers and 4,000 hours of viewing in the previous year to be eligible for monetisation, users on X must pay $8 per month for Premium or $16 per month for Premium+ in order to be eligible for a portion of the advertising revenue.

Initially, when Mr Musk had asked Mr Donaldson to upload videos on the microblogging platform, he refused and said that his videos “cost millions to make” and it would not fund “a fraction” of the cost if he uploaded them on X.

No Fortuner In Dowry, Woman Killed By Husband, In-Laws In Greater Noida

No Fortuner In Dowry, Woman Killed By Husband, In-Laws In Greater Noida

Karishma married Vikas in December 2022 and the couple lived with Vikas’s family.

A woman was allegedly beaten to death by her husband and his family in Greater Noida for being unable to meet their dowry demands that included a Toyota Fortuner and Rs 21 lakh cash, police said.

In his complaint to the police, Deepak, the brother of Karishma, alleged that she called her family on Friday and informed them that her husband Vikas along with his parents and siblings had beaten her. When they reached the house to check on her, they found her dead.

Karishma married Vikas in December 2022 and the couple lived with Vikas’s family in Kheda Chauganpur village of Greater Noida’s Ecotech-3. According to Deepak, her family gave gold worth Rs 11 lakh as well as an SUV to the groom’s family at the time of the wedding. However, Vikas’ family kept demanding more dowry over the years and physically and mentally abused her, he alleged.

The abuse got worse after she gave birth to a girl and the two families tried to sort their differences through several panchayat meetings at Vikas’ village, he said. Karishma’s family then paid another Rs 10 lakh to his family but the abuse didn’t stop, Deepak alleged.

Vikas’ family recently made a new demand for a Fortuner car and another Rs 21 lakh from Karishma.

A case of murder for dowry has been registered against Vikas, his father Sompal Bhati, his mother Rakesh, sister Rinki and brothers Sunil and Anil.

Vikas and his father have been arrested while the police are looking for other accused in the case.
