BRS submits representation to State govt, seeks immediate relief for farmers

A BRS legislators delegation submitting a representation to Chief Secretary A Shanti Kumari at Dr BR Ambedkar Telangana State Secretariat on Tuesday.

Hyderabad: The BRS demanded the State government to initiate immediate measures to support farmers distressed over their crop loss due to lack of irrigation water supply and unseasonal rains. Accordingly, the main opposition party sought a compensation of Rs 25,000 per acre towards crop loss, Rs 500 per quintal bonus of paddy in addition to Minimum Support Price, disbursement of Rythu Bharosa investment support and also crop loan waiver upto Rs 2 lakh, as promised by the Congress during the Assembly elections.

A BRS legislators delegation led by former Minister G Jagadish Reddy submitted a representation to Chief Secretary A Shanti Kumari at Dr BR Ambedkar Telangana State Secretariat on Tuesday, seeking immediate action to rescue distressed farmers. Former Ministers Satyavathi Rathod and Gangula Kamalakar along with MLAs Palla Rajeshwar Reddy, KP Vivekananda Goud, Padi Kaushik Reddy, Seri Subhash Reddy and others were part of the delegation.

Speaking to mediapersons at Telangana Bhavan later, Jagadish Reddy said farmers suffered a severe crop loss due to the partisan attitude of the State government and its incompetence in water management. Despite having necessary water in various water bodies, he said the State government failed to utilise it efficiently to address the irrigation and drinking water needs.

The former Minister said the BRS leaders have been conducting field visits and meeting farmers for the last two weeks. Based on their assessment, the BRS submitted a representation to the Chief Secretary seeking immediate relief for farmers. He urged the State government to initiate immediate measures notwithstanding the model code of conduct in force in the State ahead of the Lok Sabha polls. He assured that the BRS will not complain to the Election Commission of India in this regard, as people especially farmers are a priority for the party.

Referring to the Zionist regime’s terrorist attack on Iran’s consulate in Syria on Monday, Ahmad Vahidi took to X social media platform to offer condolences over the martyrdom of the IRGC military advisor Mohammad Reza Zahedi and his companions.

He also termed the Israeli attack on Iran’s consulate building as a sign of the regime’s failures in the field.

Seven of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) military advisors were martyred following the Israeli attack on Iran’s consulate in Damascus on Monday, IRGC said in a statement.

Reacting to the Israeli aggression, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Nasser Kan’ani on Monday night said that the Islamic Republic of Iran, while reserving its rights to take countermeasures, decides on the type of reaction and punishment of the aggressor.

Earlier on Monday, Iran’s Ambassador to Syria stressed that the country will give a decisive response to the Israeli regime.

PM's "Prince" Jab After Rahul Gandhi's "Country Will Be On Fire" Warning

PM Narendra Modi today addressed a BJP rally at Uttarakhand’s Rudrapur

Rudrapur (Uttarakhand):

Hitting out at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said the “prince” of the Opposition party’s “royal family” has declared that the country will be on fire if the BJP returns to power. “They ruled the country for 60 years, but after just 10 years out of power, they are talking about setting the country on fire,” the Prime Minister said in a BJP rally at Uttarakhand’s Rudrapur.

Questioning if this is a “language of democracy”, he asked the people if they would “punish such people”. “Chun chun ke saaf kar do, is bar inko maidan mein mat rehne do (pick them one by one and remove them from the arena),” he said. He said the Congress, with its “Emergency mindset”, no longer believes in democracy. “That’s why they are busy instigating people against the mandate,” the Prime Minister said.

He was responding to Mr Gandhi’s remarks at the joint Opposition rally in Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan on Sunday.

Addressing the rally, attended by top leaders of the INDIA block, the Congress leader had accused the BJP and the Prime Minister of “fixing” the upcoming Lok Sabha election. “Without EVMs, match-fixing, social media, and pressuring the press, they cannot win more than 180 seats,” he had said.

“If the BJP wins these fixed election and then changes the Constitution, the whole country will be on fire. Mark my words, this country won’t survive,” he said.

Addressing the Rudrapur rally, the Prime Minister said there are two camps facing off in the upcoming polls. “On one side, we are bringing honesty and transparency to the people. On the other, the corrupt and dynasts have ganged up. These corrupt people are abusing and threatening Modi. We are saying, ‘remove corruption’, they are saying, ‘save the corrupt’,” he said.

The remarks come amid a united Opposition charge at the BJP-led Centre over the arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in a money laundering case related to the capital’s now-scrapped liquor policy. The AAP has denied the allegations and accused the Centre of using probe agencies for political objectives.

The Prime Minister said he does not fear threats and abuses and that the “action against every corrupt person will continue”. “At the beginning of our third term, there will be a bigger attack on corruption. I guarantee that,” he said.

In a related development, the BJP has written to the Election Commission, flagging Mr Gandhi’s remark on EVMs and demanding strict action against him.

“He said ‘this is a fixed match’… he also said that the government has its own people in the EC and the elections can’t be won without EVM. He also said that the rights provided by the Indian Constitution are being snatched away,” Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said. “Rahul Gandhi’s address at the rally contained inflammatory remarks aimed at sowing seeds of doubt and distrust in the minds of the Indian populace regarding the electoral process and the impartiality of the Election Commission of India,” he added.

Australia summons Israeli envoy over aid worker killed in Gaza airstrike

Australia has summoned the Israeli ambassador over the killing of an Australian aid worker in an airstrike on Gaza, which Prime Minister Anthony Albanese described as “completely unacceptable.”

Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) has “requested a call-in from the Israeli ambassador,” Albanese said on Tuesday.

“We want full accountability for this. This is a tragedy that should never have occurred,” he added.

Australian citizen Zomi Frankcom was among the seven aid workers who were killed in an Israeli airstrike in central Gaza on Monday.

Citizens from Britain and Poland, and a dual citizen of the United States and Canada were also among the victims who were working for the World Central Kitchen.

The World Central Kitchen said its aid workers were traveling in a “deconflicted zone” in two armored cars branded with the charity’s logo as well as “a soft skin vehicle.”

Despite coordinating movements with the Israeli military, “the convoy was hit as it was leaving the Deir al-Balah warehouse, where the team had unloaded more than 100 tons of humanitarian food aid brought to Gaza on the maritime route,” the group said in a statement.

Albanese said, “The truth is that this is beyond any reasonable circumstances that someone going about providing aid and humanitarian assistance should lose their life.”

The premier also reiterated calls for a “sustainable ceasefire”, saying, “Australians want to see an end to this conflict.”

Earlier, DFAT said in a statement that Australia has been “very clear that we expect humanitarian workers in Gaza to have safe and unimpeded access to do their lifesaving work.”

Erin Gore, chief executive of World Central Kitchen, said, “This is not only an attack against WCK.

“This is an attack on humanitarian organizations showing up in the most dire of situations where food is being used as a weapon of war. This is unforgivable.”

Israel launched the war on Gaza on October 7 after the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas waged the surprise Operation Al-Aqsa Storm against the occupying entity in response to the Israeli intensified violence against Palestinians.

Tel Aviv has also blocked water, food, and electricity to Gaza, plunging the coastal strip into a humanitarian crisis.

Since the start of the offensive, the Tel Aviv regime has killed at least 32,845 Palestinians and injured nearly 75,392 others.

40 Years On, Rakesh Sharma Recalls His "Saare Jahaan Se Achha" Remark

40 Years On, Rakesh Sharma Recalls His 'Saare Jahaan Se Achha' Remark

Rakesh Sharma is the only Indian to have gone into the space.

New Delhi:

Wing Commander Rakesh Sharma, the only Indian to have gone into the space, is excited to welcome more Indian astronauts to the elite space club as the country prepares for the Gaganyaan mission.

Gaganyaan is the country’s first human space flight mission, under which a three-member crew will be launched into a Low Earth Orbit and bring them back after three days.

Speaking to NDTV’s Science Editor Pallava Bagla, Mr Sharma recalled the space flight that earned India one of its first space achievements.

“I think it was extremely exciting. Everything was being done for the very first time. One was full of expectations. And I must say, I was disappointed primarily because what I saw far exceeded my expectations. So I was really unprepared for the sites which were available to me, the kind of science that we did in space,” he said.

The excitement hasn’t faded for the 75-year-old former Indian Air Force pilot as India gets ready for the Gaganyaan mission.

“I’m extremely excited that, uh, today, Gaganyaan is getting ready and we are on the cusp of really creating another historical moment. I believe this is going to be a lot more meaningful because here we are going to be launching an Indian launcher with the Indians on board from an Indian spaceport,” Mr Sharma said.

He also praised the mission for being entirely indigenous and said, “This is something which is really worth looking forward to and worth celebrating because I’m extremely confident that this is going to be a very successful flight, God willing.”

Exactly 40 years ago, on April 3, 1984, Mr Sharma scripted history by becoming the first Indian to reach outer space on board the Soviet rocket Soyuz T-11. When asked by then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi how India looked from space, he replied quoting poet Iqbal, “Saare jahaan se achcha (better than the whole world)”.

Asked if he feels the same 40 years down the line, he told NDTV, “Oh, indeed, indeed. Of course it is.”

Israel to regret attacking Iran's consulate building: Leader

Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has issued a message after the Israeli regime’s attack on Iran’s consular building in Damascus on Monday.

Resistance forces strike key Israeli military positions, US-occupied base

Fighters from the Lebanese Hezbollah resistance movement and their fellow Iraqi comrades have conducted separate operations against Israeli military positions in the northern part of the 1948-occupied territories, and a military base in southeastern Syria where US occupation troops and their allied militants are stationed.

Lebanon’s Arabic-language al-Mayadeen television news channel, citing a brief Hezbollah statement, reported that the group struck the headquarters of the newly formed Liman Battalion with a barrage of artillery shells on Monday evening.

The Lebanese resistance fighters also fired a salvo of rockets and artillery rounds that targeted the Ruwaisat al-Alam site in the occupied Kfarchouba Hills.

Moreover, Hezbollah pummeled an Israeli military team as it was conducting maintenance on technical and espionage devices at the Baghdadi site opposite the Lebanese town of Meiss Ej Jabal.

Hezbollah announced in the statement that the strikes were in retaliation for the Israeli genocide war against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, and in support of their resistance factions fighting off the relentless bloody onslaught.

A drone also struck an area close to Israel’s Ramon military airport, authorities say. The Israeli military  has not yet commented on the incident.

Meanwhile, a military base, which houses US occupation troops and allied militants in Syria’s Homs province near the border with Jordan and Iraq, has come under attack by an armed unmanned aerial vehicle.

Turkey’s official Anadolu news agency, quoting local sources speaking on condition of anonymity, said the al-Tanf base was targeted by a drone.

There were no immediate reports about possible casualties or the extent of damage caused.

In a related incident, the Islamic Resistance in Iraq, an umbrella group of anti-terror fighters, in a statement claimed responsibility for the early Tuesday drone strike against the Israeli Air Force (IAF)’s Tel Nof Airbase, located 5 kilometers south of Rehovot.

The coalition stated that the attack comes in line with resistance against the occupying Israeli regime, in support of Palestinians in Gaza, and in response to Israeli atrocities against Palestinian children, women and elderly.

The Islamic Resistance in Iraq has been staging many such attacks on Israeli targets since the occupying regime launched a genocidal war on Gaza in early October.

Israel unleashed its war on Gaza on October 7 after the Palestinian Hamas resistance group carried out Operation Al-Aqsa Storm against the usurping entity in retaliation for its intensified atrocities against the Palestinian people.

The Tel Aviv regime has also imposed a “complete siege” on the territory, cutting off fuel, electricity, food and water to the more than two million Palestinians living there.

Since the start of the offensive, the Tel Aviv regime has killed 32,782 Palestinians and injured nearly 75,298 others.

The Islamic Resistance in Iraq has also struck major American military bases in Syria and Iraq amid anger over the US support for Israel’s onslaught on Gaza.
