Israel actions to intensify crisis in region: UN envoy

Delivering a speech before the Security Council during a meeting on the Israeli attack on the Iranian consulate in Damascus, Ershadi categorically condemned the Israeli act of aggression, saying, “The Israeli regime has committed a clear violation of the United Nations Charter, international laws, and the sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity of the Syrian Arab Republic.”

She added that the Monday terrorist attack clearly breached the basic principle of diplomatic and consular immunity, as well as the 1961 Convention on Diplomatic Relations, the 1963 Vienna Convention on Consular Relations, and the 1973 Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of Crimes against Internationally Protected Persons, including Diplomatic Agents.

This crime and terrorist attack represents a clear insult to the accepted principle of the international community, that is, the immunity of representatives and diplomatic and consular places, she underlined.

It is now quite clear that the destabilizing, irresponsible, and ongoing crimes of the Israeli regime against the nations of the region are a real threat to regional and international peace and security, she said, adding that Israel has continuously ignored international laws, the United Nations Charter, humanitarian principles and human rights. “The agenda of the Zionist regime is clear: escalation and continuation of the conflict while avoiding accountability and accepting responsibility.”

“The occupying regime must accept full responsibility for the consequences of its crimes. The Islamic Republic of Iran reserves its legitimate and inherent right based on international laws and the United Nations Charter to respond decisively to such reprehensible actions,” Ershadi stressed.

“The main goal of this regime is the illegal use of force to advance apartheid policies, ethnic cleansing, genocidal actions and military objectives in Gaza at any cost,” the Iranian envoy said elsewhere in her remarks.

She further emphasized that the United States is responsible for all the crimes of the Israeli regime.

The Israeli regime attacked Iran’s consulate in the Syrian capital of Damascus on Monday evening. The Israeli aggression led to the destruction of the entire building and the martyrdom and injury of the entire people inside it.

Seven of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) military advisors were martyred following the Israeli attack on Iran’s consulate in Damascus on Monday, IRGC said in a statement.

Reacting to the Israeli aggression, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Nasser Kan’ani on Monday night said that the Islamic Republic of Iran, while reserving its rights to take countermeasures, decides on the type of reaction and punishment of the aggressor.

Adani Green Energy becomes India’s 1st to surpass 10,000 MW renewable energy

Ahmedabad: In a first for the country, Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL) on Wednesday said it has surpassed 10,000 megawatts (MW) of operational portfolio, delivering reliable, affordable and clean power to the national grid.

AGEL’s 10,934 MW operational portfolio will power more than 5.8 million homes and help avoid about 21 million tonnes of CO2 emissions annually.

“We are proud to be India’s first ‘das hazari’ in the renewables space,” said Gautam Adani, Chairman of the Adani Group.

“In less than a decade, Adani Green Energy has not just envisioned a greener future but has actualised it, growing from a mere idea to explore clean energy to achieving a phenomenal 10,000 MW in installed capacity,” added Adani Group’s Founder and Chairman.

AGEL’s operational portfolio consists of 7,393 MW solar, 1,401 MW wind and 2,140 MW wind-solar hybrid capacity.

The milestone is a testament to AGEL, India’s largest and one of the world’s leading renewable energy (RE) companies, and its development partners firmly moving towards the goal of 45,000 GW of renewable energy by 2030.

“This achievement is a demonstration of the rapidity and scale, at which the Adani Group aims to facilitate India’s transition to clean, reliable and affordable energy,” Gautam Adani said.

AGEL’s operating portfolio is certified ‘single-use plastic free’, ‘zero waste to landfill’ and ‘water positive for plants with more than 200 MW capacity’.

The company is developing the world’s largest renewable energy project of 30,000 MW on barren land at Khavda in Kutch, Gujarat. Built across 538 sq km, it is five times the size of Paris and almost as large as Mumbai city.

Juventus are heavy favourites to reach the Italian Cup final after beating Lazio 2-0 in Tuesday’s semi-final first leg in Turin. Strike partnership Federico Chiesa and Dusan Vlahovic turned jeers to cheers at the Allianz Stadium with brilliant finishes in the 50th and 64th minutes as Juve sprang into life in the second half. The pair gave Juve a rare win in what has been a difficult period as Massimiliano Allegri’s side have fallen from Serie A title contenders to a battle to qualify for the Champions League in just a few weeks.

Tuesday’s win was just the second for Juve in 10 matches after being beaten by Lazio in Serie A at the weekend and they were booed off at half-time by frustrated fans.

Juve face Lazio in the second leg in Rome on April 23 and, should they complete an aggregate victory, will play one of Fiorentina or Atalanta in May’s final.

Fiorentina host Atalanta in the first leg of their last-four tie on Wednesday evening.

Lazio face local rivals Roma on Saturday as both capital clubs try to secure European football for next season.

Israel to surely be punished for attacking Iran's consulate

Raeisi made the remarks in a telephone conversation with his Syrian counterpart Bashar al-Assad on Tuesday night.

During the phone conversation, the Syrian president expressed condolences over the martyrdom of Iranian military advisors during the Israeli attack.

Israel’s unprecedented crime in attacking Iran’s consulate is not only a violation of international laws but also shows the extent of insolence and moral degradation of this regime, Assad said.

He also emphasized the need to support the Axis of Resistance and punish the regime of Tel Aviv.

For his part, Raeisi thanked his Syrian counterpart for offering condolences and Sympathy, saying that Israel showed how desperate it was by carrying out this terrorist attack against Iran’s diplomatic site.

Undoubtedly, this regime and its supporters will be punished for their shameful act, he stressed.

Emphasizing the need for enhancing the cooperation between Tehran and Damascus at the regional and international levels with the aim of confronting the Israeli regime’s crimes, the Iranian president said that unfortunately, the passivity of some Arab countries has prevented the Islamic world from adopting a united position against the Zionist regime and has caused this regime to become more brazen in committing crimes.

Arvind Kejriwal Unwell In Jail, Has Lost 4.5 Kg In Weight: Sources

AAP Says Arvind Kejriwal Unwell, Lost 4.5 Kg In Jail, Officials Disagree

New Delhi:

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is unwell and has lost 4.5 kg since he was arrested on March 21, sources in the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) have said. Authorities in Tihar jail, however, have said he is fine, and jail doctors have not flagged his health condition.

Mr Kejriwal, arrested in a money laundering case linked to Delhi’s now-scrapped judicial custody, is in Tihar jail after a court here remanded him in judicial custody till April 15.

He has been lodged in a 14X8 feet cell in jail number 2 of Tihar jail. A diabetic, his blood sugar level has been fluctuating over the past few days and had dropped below 50 at one point, according to reports. He has been given medicines to bring his blood sugar level under control. According to jail officials, he has also been provided a sugar sensor to monitor his blood sugar levels and toffees to arrest any sudden drop.

The Chief Minister is being served home-cooked food for lunch and dinner and his condition is being monitored. Jail officials have said they have also posted a quick response team near his cell for any emergency.

The AAP leader spoke to his wife Sunita through video conference yesterday and met his lawyer in person.

A Delhi court remanded him in judicial custody after the Enforcement Directorate flagged concerns that his release could hamper the probe into the money laundering case. The central agency has said Mr Kejriwal is not cooperating in the investigation.

The Delhi Chief Minister’s petition for interim relief will be heard today.
