Hyderabad: Mathematics section could turn out to be a deciding factor in scoring good percentiles in the paper 1 (BE/BTech) of the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main session 2 (April) held on Thursday.

Students who appeared for the examination said they found questions in the mathematics section to be lengthy besides consuming more time to answer.

Mathematics questions, students said, covered from most of the topics but a good number of questions were from Calculus and integer type questions were lengthy.

Top students could do the math comfortably, while the average students struggle to find the correct answer. Questions in the physics section, were on easier side and most of them were direct, and were asked from the NCERT syllabus, they said.

The chemistry question paper was balanced, covering all the topics uniformly.

“Students who cautiously managed their time in physics and chemistry sections, and spend time on mathematics can score good percentiles. As per students’ feedback, mathematics can be a deciding factor for scoring good percentile in the examination,” said Uma Shankar, all India IIT Coordinator, Sri Chaitanya Junior Colleges.

The JEE Main paper 1 (BE/BTech) will also be conducted on April 5, 6, 8 and 9 in two shifts i.e.,9 am to 12 noon, and 3 pm to 6 pm, while the paper 2 for admissions to BArch and BPlanning programmes is scheduled for April 12 from 9 am to 12.30 pm.

Sunita Kejriwal Reads Out Jailed Husband's Statement, Backdrop Raises Brows

Sunita Kejriwal Reads Out Jailed Husband's Statement, Background Raises Eyebrows

In his message, Mr Kejriwal said no person in Delhi should have to suffer because he is in jail.

New Delhi:

When Arvind Kejriwal’s wife, Sunita, delivered another message from the jailed chief minister to the people of Delhi on Thursday, what stood out was the background in her video statement. In all her addresses so far, the backdrop had portraits of legendary freedom fighter Bhagat Singh and the Father of the Indian Constitution, BR Ambedkar, but there was a new addition between them in the latest video – a picture of Arvind Kejriwal with bars in front of him to signify his imprisonment.

“Mr Kejriwal has sent a message to all of you from jail: ‘I am in prison but no person in Delhi should have to suffer because of that. Every MLA should visit their constituencies every day and ask people if they are facing any problems. They should sort those problems out. I am not just talking about solving problems related to the government, we should attempt to solve their other problems too. The 2 crore people of Delhi are my family. No one should be unhappy. God bless them all. Jai Hind,'” Ms Kejriwal said in Hindi.

The photo of the AAP chief in the message was also noted by the BJP, which accused Mr Kejriwal of attempting to mislead the people of Delhi.

“It is very regrettable that the portrait of a corrupt person, Arvind Kejriwal, was hanging between those of Bhagat Singh ji and Babasaheb Ambedkar ji. Earlier, the husband used to lie in front of the camera. Now that he is in jail, he is making his wife lie. The public is not going to be misled by the AAP,” BJP Delhi President Virendra Sachdeva posted in Hindi on X.

After Mr Kejriwal’s arrest by the Enforcement Directorate in the Delhi liquor policy case on March 21, his wife has been delivering messages from him to the people of Delhi and also during the ‘Save Democracy’ rally on Sunday, which was a show of strength by the opposition INDIA bloc.

In his first message two days after his arrest, Mr Kejriwal had said, “There are several forces within and outside India that are weakening the country. There is no jail that can keep him behind bars for long. I will come out soon and keep my promises.”

During Sunday’s rally, the chief minister’s wife had read out his six guarantees to the people of Delhi ahead of the Lok Sabha polls and said the people of India were standing with her jailed husband.

The AAP chief has been sent to judicial custody till April 15, and the Delhi High Court is hearing a petition filed by him against his arrest. The court had reserved its judgment in the case on Wednesday.

In a separate hearing seeking Mr Kejriwal’s removal as the chief minister after his arrest, a bench of the high court dismissed the petition on Thursday and said that democracy should take its own course.

Think, Understand And Then Take Right Decision: Rahul Gandhi Urges Voters

Rahul Gandhi conveyed to the people ahead of the Lok Sabha polls that their future is in their hands

New Delhi:

Amid the Lok Sabha polls, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi today said India is currently standing at a “crucial juncture” and urged people to recognise the difference between those who “build the country” and those who “destroy” it.

In a post in Hindi on X, Mr Gandhi conveyed to the people ahead of the Lok Sabha polls that their future is in their hands, and that they must think, understand and then take the right decision.

The former Congress chief said the country is currently standing at a “crucial juncture”.

Every section of the society will have to recognize the difference between those who “build the country” and those who “destroy” it, Mr Gandhi said.

The Congress and the INDIA bloc mean that youth’s first job confirmed, guarantee of MSP to farmers, every poor woman a millionaire, minimum Rs 400 per day for workers, caste census and economic survey and secure Constitution and rights of citizen, he said.

“And, the BJP means: unemployment confirmed, debt burden on farmers, unsafe and without rights women, forced and helpless labourers, discrimination and exploitation of the underprivileged and dictatorship and sham democracy,” Mr Gandhi said.

“Your future is in your hands, think, understand and take the right decision,” he said.

The Lok Sabha polls will be held in seven phases beginning April 19. The counting of votes will take place on June 4.

Series of reactor blasts exposes lack of regular monitoring from Inspector of Factores

Sangareddy: A series of accidents in industries across the district that have been claiming industrial workers’ lives have exposed the safety measures in industries particularly in pharmaceutical and allied industries.

The death of four workers in a reactor blast at Covalent Laboratories, which occurred in March this year, located at Gundlamachanur is still fresh in the memory of the public, a similar reactor blast at SB Organics Limited located a few kilometers away from Covalent has claimed the lives of another six employees, leaving 30 others injured.

Six workers died in an industrial accident at Amar Labs Private Limited located at IDA Bollaram in October 2023. In another accident, three workers were burnt alive at Mylan Laboratories located at Gaddapotharam in Jinnaram mandal a year ago.

During the last two years, as many as 72 persons died in 40 industrial accidents across Sangaredy district. The mishaps have left 225 persons injured.

Most of these accidents occurred in Jinnaram, IDA Bollaram, Gaddapotharam, Pashamylaram, Patancheru and Hathnoora industrial areas. Life is becoming much more difficult for the people who were injured in these incidents since they could not work anymore in their lives.

The employees, who were at SB Organics Limited at the time of the mishap, has said that management is operating an old reactor, which was outdated.

The employees have said that the chemicals were dangerously leaking out of the reactor which caused the explosion. Former Minister T Harish Rao has said that the staff of the Inspector of Factories were not making regular visits to the industries to check the safety measures in the industries.

He said that the negligence of the Inspectors of Factories has resulted in several mishaps. Meanwhile, the management of industries that need to check the functioning of reactors regularly, are not monitoring the safety of the reactors.

It is not only claiming the lives of the workers, it is also causing massive losses to industries. CPM leader Jayaraju has said that the management of industries and the State government are not paying proper compensation to the deceased and victims in the industrial mishaps.

Jayaraju has said the industrial mishaps were pushing many families into crisis because they were losing their only breadwinners in the accidents.

Asking them to learn from the repeated mistakes, the leaders have demanded the government to order the Inspector of Factories to regularly inspect the industries to check the safety measures

Pant On Brink Of IPL Ban For Code of Conduct Breach. This Is The Reason

Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant, who has made a great comeback to cricket after recovering from injuries sustained due to a horrific car crash, was on Wednesday fined Rs 24 lakh for a second over rate offence in the 2024 Indian Premier League. Pant was guilty of maintaining a slow-over in the game against Kolkata Knight Riders on Wednesday. The rest of his teammates were fined 25 percent of their match fees. “Rishabh Pant, the Delhi Capitals captain, has been fined after his team maintained a slow over rate during their TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 match against Kolkata Knight Riders…” said the IPL in a statement titled ‘IPL Media Advisory: Code of Conduct Breach’..

“As it was his team’s second offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over rate offences, Pant was fined INR 24 lakhs.

“The rest of the members of the Playing XI, including the Impact Player, were each individually fined either INR 6 lakhs or 25 percent of their respective match fees, whichever is lesser,” it added.

Delhi Capitals lost the game to KKR by 106 runs after the latter smashed 272 for seven, the second highest total in IPL history. It was Delhi Capitals’ third loss in four games.

According to the IPL rules, in case of a third slow over-rate offense by a team in one season, the captain fined INR 30 lakh and is handed over a match ban. The rest of the team is imposed with a fine of INR 12 lakh or 50% of their match fee, whichever is lesser. So Pant needs to ensure that the offense is not repeated by his team.

Speaking on Star Sports, former Australia cricketer Michael Clarke spoke on Rishabh Pant‘s performance against KKR. He said, “Yeah look it’s great for Indian cricket, but it’s also great for Rishabh Pant. I think the work that has gone into his rehab to get back to that level of play at any standard is an amazing achievement. He’s deserves a lot of credit for his hard work and it’s great to see him on the field, captaining and playing well, batting and keeping.

“He looked a little bit sore, a little bit ginger, I saw the Delhi physio run out to the field a couple of times to check on him, so hopefully he’s pulled out okay, the positives are in the presentation he said he was fine and hopefully a day off or a couple of days off and he will be ready for the next game. He’s a wonderful player and everybody is happy that he’s back on the field and we want to see him play for Delhi, but we also want to see him come back and play for India as soon as possible.”

PM Modi Sets Ambitious India Economic Goals For Probable 3rd Term

PM Modi Sets Ambitious India Economic Goals For Probable 3rd Term

PM Narendra Modi speaks during an election campaign rally in Meerut

New Delhi:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, confident of winning the national election starting this month, has set an ambitious target of roughly doubling the economy and exports this decade, according to a government document seen by news agency Reuters.

PM Modi has highlighted economic growth as one of his biggest achievements in election rallies and has “guaranteed” making the economy the third-largest in the world from fifth now if he wins a third term in a row as polls predict.

He has already asked officials to finalise plans by around May to expand the economy to $6.69 trillion in nominal terms by 2030, from around $3.51 trillion currently, according to the October document. Though short on concrete details of how to achieve that, it has been a basis for officials’ meetings.

When he took office for a second term five years ago, PM Modi promised to take the economy to $5 trillion by the current fiscal year, but partly due to COVID-19 related disruptions, meeting that target is virtually impossible now.

For the next six years, PM Modi’s goal is to raise per capita income to $4,418 from around $2,500, the document says, without specifying the spending or reforms needed to achieve that.

PM Modi’s office and the finance ministry did not reply to requests seeking comment.

Independent economist Saugata Bhattacharya said doubling the economy by the end of the decade would be a “very difficult feat” requiring 6 per cent-6.5 per cent growth for the next seven years along with inflation of 4.5 per cent.

The economy is, however, expected to have grown by around 8 per cent in the last fiscal year ended March 31, the fastest among major countries, on the back of strong manufacturing and construction activity driven by government spending.

A former senior finance ministry official, Subhash Chandra Garg, said growth projections like those in the document are mostly based on “backward arithmetical calculations” and lack any “reform and investment plan”.

“Usually such mental gymnastics based on arithmetic calculations and assumptions are meaningless unless there is serious reform and investment plan to test it for real economy dynamics,” said Mr Garg, the Modi government’s finance secretary until 2019.

The opposition Congress says India’s economic growth in the past few years under PM Modi has done little to create jobs and alleviate rural distress, while the disparity between rich and poor has widened. The document says PM Modi’s government wants exports of goods and services to jump to $1.58 trillion by 2030 from around $700 billion, which could double the share of Indian exports in global trade to more than 4 per cent.

The government also plans to focus on 70 areas of improvement including workforce skills and vocational training, critical demands of industry leaders who often complain about the skill levels of the labour force. It wants the literacy rate to rise to 82 per cent by 2030 from about 78 per cent now, unemployment to fall to less than 5 per cent from 8 per cent, and labour force participation rate to jump to more than 50 per cent from 46 per cent now.

PM Modi has said in rallies he needs to remain in power to implement measures to take India towards a developed economy by 2047, the 100th year of Independence, from mid-income levels now. He has not spelt out the measures.

Opinion polls show he will win big in the elections starting on April 19 and ending after seven phases on June 1, with vote counting on June 4.

A coalition led by PM Modi’s BJP could win nearly three-fourths of parliamentary seats, according to a survey on Wednesday, while the Congress could hit a record low.

He would be the first person since Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru to win three consecutive terms.
