Adilabad Collector tours rural parts to assess drinking water situation

Collector Rajarshi Shah interacts with residents of a village in Indervelli mandal on Friday.

Adilabad: Collector Rajarshi Shah instructed officials to take steps to address drinking water problems in rural parts of the district. He toured several parts of Utnoor mandal and Indervelli mandals to assess drinking water situation on Friday.

Shah initially inspected community health centres in Bursan Patar, Ramjiguda in Indervelli and then Umri of Utnoor mandal. He checked an unused old well at Bursan Patar. He was told that the locals were not using the water, but were irrigating the crops with the help of the well. He asked the officials to lay a pipeline from Bursan Patar to Ramjiguda to address the drinking water crisis spending Rs 5 lakh sanctioned in the past.

The Collector ordered the officials to create drinking water facility, electricity and to repair class rooms for Amma Adarsha School by June 10 through a grant of Rs 3.6 lakh released a few months back. He later made enquiries into major challenges being faced by residents of Umri village by speaking headman of the habitation. He vowed to resolve their problems.

The headman told the IAS officer that the residents were getting drinking water for every two or three days through Mission Bhagiratha scheme. He regretted that an overhead tank was not filled up by bulk water. He requested the Collector to take steps to find a solution to their challenge by supplying water by bullock carts.

Responding to the request of the headman, Shah told the officials of Rural Water Supply to submit a report by carrying out a survey over the opportunities to resolve the crisis at the earliest.

IRGC to punish Zionist regime for consulate attack in Syria

Salami made the remarks at the Quds Day rally in Tehran on Friday.

“The Zionist regime is like a dagger that the satanic British regime stabbed the body of the Islamic nation with 75 years ago,” Salami said, adding that “Zionist regime is still alive with the United States’ artificial respiration.”

“Whenever this Western artificial ventilation is removed from the nose of the Zionist regime, this regime’s protected life would end and collapse. This issue is near and not far,” he added.

“The Zionists think that the more they massacre the Muslims, their position will be strengthened, but this is just a dream,” the IRGC commander further said.

“The messages we receive from inside Gaza say that they have no problem in their steadfastness against the Zionists,” he went on to say, adding that “They [Gaza Resistance groups] say, be firm, we will bury the regime in Gaza.”

“Finally, the land of the Palestinians will return to themselves, and there is no way to save the Zionists,” further asserted the IRGC chief.

“The only way for the Zionists is to surrender and we will see that,” he continued.

“All the occupied lands are within the range of Muslims’ fire,” he also said.

“Our brave men will punish the Zionist regime and the regime cannot escape from the seditions it creates,” Salami continued.

“The regime is accessible and knows what will happen,” he further warned, adding that “No action of any enemy will go unanswered.”

In Poll Manifesto, Congress Invokes Rabindranath Tagore's Poem To Win Back Voters

In Poll Manifesto, Congress Invokes Rabindranath Tagore's Poem To Win Back Voters

The Congress election manifesto was released from the AICC headquarters today

New Delhi:

Invoking Rabindranath Tagore’s “Where the mind is without fear and the head is held high”, the Congress Friday made a fervent appeal to people to repose faith in the party in the Lok Sabha polls and promised greater freedom, faster growth and justice for all.

In the election manifesto the Congress released from the AICC headquarters here, the party alleged that the last 10 years of the BJP-NDA government have been marked by exaggeration and publicity rather than substance and performance.

“The economy has registered less-than-satisfactory growth. Widespread unemployment, high inflation and falling consumption have debilitated even this modest growth. While the poor and the middle classes have been hit below the belt, the atmosphere in the country has become hate-filled and divisive,” the party alleged under the rubric ‘Appeal’.

The Congress also claimed that constitutional values have been pushed to the background and majoritarianism has taken over.

“Inequalities have widened. Every section of people lives in fear. What India and the Indian people need at this time is a decisive break from the path of the last 10 years. The people yearn to walk on the road of all-round development, equality, equity, freedom and justice. Congress has the capability to provide the leadership to the people to walk on this new road,” the manifesto said.

“The lessons of history are there before you. Congress delivered Independence. Congress laid the foundations of democracy. Congress steered the country’s economic development through the 1950s and 1960s. Congress governments fought the wars of 1965 and 1971 and protected the sovereignty and integrity of India. Congress brought about a paradigm change in 1991 and ushered in an era of impressive growth,” it said.

In the last 10 years, the Congress claimed that it has been the bulwark against illiberalism and authoritarianism.

The party said it has stood with the people in their fight against injustice and oppressive laws.

“Bearing in mind the lessons of history, the Congress appeals to you to repose your faith once again in the Indian National Congress. We promise you greater freedom, faster growth, more equitable development and justice for all. We appeal to you to vote for the ‘Hand’ symbol and for the candidates of the Indian National Congress,” the party said.

“It is time to remind ourselves of Tagore’s immortal words in Gitanjali: Where the mind is without fear and the head is held high…Into that heaven of freedom, my Father, let my country awake,” the manifesto concluded.

In the introduction to the manifesto, the party said the 2024 general election presents an opportunity for radically changing the style and substance of governance that has been in evidence in the past decade of “Anyay Kaal (period of injustice)”.

“We appeal to you to look beyond religion, language and caste, choose wisely, and install a democratic government that will work for all the people of India. We appeal to you to vote for the Congress,” the party said.

New Delhi:

India has allowed limited exports of essential commodities, including sugar, wheat, rice, and onions, to the Maldives, the government said on Friday, even as ties between Male and New Delhi remained tense amid rising Chinese influence.

India, a leading exporter of rice, sugar and onions, has imposed various curbs on exports of these food commodities to keep a lid on local prices ahead of the general election.

Shipments of these commodities in the 2024/25 financial year which started on April 1 to Maldives “will be exempted from any existing or future restriction/prohibition on export,” the government said in a notification.

The South Asian country has allowed exports of 124,218 metric tons of rice, 109,162 tons of wheat flour, 64,494 tons of sugar, 21,513 metric tons of potatoes, 35,749 tons of onions, and 427.5 million eggs to the Maldives.

India has also allowed exports of 1 million tons each of stone aggregate and river sand.

The Maldives, which has traditionally had close ties to India, is pivoting towards Beijing since new President Mohamed Muizzu was elected in October on a promise to end the country’s pro-India stance.
