Firing at Salman Khan’s home: Mumbai Police nab 2 shooters from Gujarat’s Bhuj

Mumbai:  In a major breakthrough, the Mumbai Police have arrested two persons allegedly involved in the firing incident outside the residence of Bollywood actor Salman Khan from Gujarat, early on Tuesday, official sources said.

The duo – tracked and caught within 48 hours – is being brought to Mumbai later today and shall be produced before a court for remand.

They were traced to a location in Bhuj, Gujarat, where they had fled after firing at least four bullets at Salman Khan’s home in Galaxy Apartments in Bandra West around 5 a.m. on April 14.

Earlier on Monday, the Navi Mumbai Police had detained two persons connected with the motorbike bearing a Raigad registration number used by the shooters.

The motorcycle, with a Raigad registration number plate as seen in the CCTV footage, is being probed to ascertain whether it was sold by someone, missing or stolen.

The police, which had formed 15 probe teams, are also checking if there could be any threats to the shootout in Raigad, where the Khan family has a sprawling farmhouse in Panvel.

Hours after the Sunday shooting, Anmol Bishnoi – the brother of the notorious gangster Lawrence Bishnoi – had claimed responsibility for the attack in a chilling social media post.

He termed the firing incident as the ‘first and last warning’ for Salman Khan and ominously decreed that the next time “the bullets won’t be fired at walls or an empty home”, indicating the actor would be directly targeted for a hit.

“Salman Khan, this is just to show you a trailer, to make you understand our power and not to test our patience further… This is the first and final warning to you,” said the rattling post.

For the past several years, Salman Khan and his family have been facing death threats from certain Punjab-based mafia groups like the Bishnoi gang after the 1998 blackbuck poaching incident in Rajasthan.

During the past two years, the actor and his father Salim Khan have been issued death threats in different ways, including dropping a letter to the family.

Iran ready to use weapon never used before

Calling on the Zionists to behave rationally, Abolfazl Amouei in an interview for a media outlet stressed, “We are ready to use a weapon that we have not used so far. We have plans for all scenarios. In this regard, we will behave rationally and courageously.”

Saying that Iran’s response to Israel was legitimate, the senior Iranian lawmaker underlined that Iran does not want tension to flare in the region. “It is Israel’s crimes in Gaza that are destabilizing (the region).”

“Our message is peace and at the same time preparedness,” he added.

Amouei also stressed that the best kind of assistance that the US can provide to Israel, is to stop the regime’s attacks.

In response to the Israeli terrorist attack on Iran’s consulate building in Syria on April 1, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps attacked targets in occupied Palestine with dozens of drones and missiles early on Sunday.

The Israeli regime attacked Iran’s consulate in the Syrian capital of Damascus on April 1. The Israeli aggression led to the destruction of the entire building and the martyrdom and injury of the entire people inside it.

Seven of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) military advisors were martyred following the Israeli attack on Iran’s consulate in Damascus.

Famine in Sudan is imminent as the civil war nears its second year, pushing the country toward famine in the coming months.

A statement from UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, released on Monday, appeals for desperately-needed aid.

The UN OCHA Sudan has warned at least 37 percent of the population at crisis level or above suffer from hunger.

Save the Children says about 230,000 children, pregnant women and newborn mothers could die of malnutrition in the coming months.

Food production and distribution networks have broken down and aid agencies are unable to reach the worst-stricken regions.

Nearly 9 million people have been forced to flee their homes either to safer areas inside Sudan or to neighboring countries, according to the United Nations.

Civil war in Sudan between the military, chaired by General Abdel-Fattah Burhan, and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) exploded into street clashes in the capital in mid-April 2023.

Maxwell Takes Indefinite Break From IPL 2024, Explains Decision To RCB

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Australia all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has decided to take an indefinite break from the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 campaign. Maxwell revealed the news as he spoke to media during the press conference after RCB’s bitter defeat against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Monday night. Maxwell, who has courted plenty of criticism owing to his poor form with the bat, wasn’t part of the XI against SRH, with Will Jacks taking his place. After the game, Maxwell explained that he asked skipper Faf du Plessis to try someone else himself.

In the press conference, Maxwell said that he isn’t in a good ‘mental and physical space’ at the moment. Hence, decided to take a break. The Australian all-rounder didn’t specify the length for which he decides to sit out.

“For me, personally, it was a pretty easy decision,” Maxwell said after RCB’s sixth defeat in seven matches. “I went to Faf [du Plessis] and the coaches after the last game and said I felt it was probably time we tried someone else. I have been in this situation in the past where you can keep playing and get yourself deeper into a hole. I think now is actually a good time for me to give myself a bit of a mental and physical break, get my body right. If I’m required to get in during the tournament, I can hopefully get back into a really solid mental and physical space where I can still have an impact.

“We have had a pretty big deficiency straight after the powerplay, which has been my area of strength over the last couple of seasons. I felt like I wasn’t contributing in a positive way with the bat, and with the results and the position we find ourselves on the table, I think it’s a good time to give someone else an opportunity to show their wares, and hopefully, someone can make that spot their own.”

It isn’t the first time Maxwell has taken a break from the game over mental fatigue. With things not going right for the veteran cricketer, he decided it’s best for the franchise to use other options while he rejuvinates and looks to bounce back with strength.

“T20 cricket can be like that sometimes – it’s a pretty fickle game,” he said. “Even if you look at the first game, I ran one off the middle of the bat to the keeper. I picked up the length really well, saw a scoring opportunity, but opened the face a little bit too much. When you are going well, that goes wide of the gloves, you get a boundary, you are 4 off 1, and you are away for the tournament.

“I probably just haven’t got away – it’s as simple as that. In the first few games, I feel I made reasonably good decisions, but I was still finding ways to get out. It can happen in T20 cricket and when it snowballs like that, you can go searching and try too hard and forget the basics of the game.”

Earlier, Indian cricket legend Sunil Gavaskar had also criticised Maxwell for his poor show in the IPL, saying the Aussie is just not able to play fast bowling.

“He has been unable to play fast bowling, period,” former Indian captain Sunil Gavaskar told Star Sports

“Balls bouncing to his chest or shoulder height are troubling him. He can whack every ball below his waist height, but not the ones above that.”
