Man exhibits exotic wild animals in Hyderabad, lands in trouble

Iguana is put on display during the exhibition.

Sangareddy: Forest officials have seized animals that were displayed at an exhibition of exotic and wildlife animals at KPHB Colony in Medchal Malkajigiri district.

After receiving a complaint from an NGO activist, forest officials led by Forest Range Officer of Dulapally range Lakshman and other officials raided the exhibition and seized the animals. District Forest Officer (Medchal-Malkajigiri) Janakiram said they had imposed a fine of Rs.2 lakh on one Bharath Reddy for displaying exotic birds, animals, reptiles and fish.

Visitors to the exhibition said a python, iguana and some other animals were also put on display. Forest officials refused to disclose what they did with the seized wild animals. The DFO said that they had found only exotic birds and seized the section because Bharat Reddy put up the exhibition without obtaining proper permission.
A couple of Ostrichs and a hedgehog were also exhibited for visitors at KPHB Phase 9.

Some animal lovers, who visited the exhibition approached the PCA (Prevention of Cruelty) Officer of Stray Animal Foundation of India A Goutham who in turn complained to Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF) RM Dobriyal. Following the directions of Dobriyal, officials raided the exhibition on December 18 and imposed a fine.

Officials did not divulge what action they initiated against Bharath Reddy for capturing wild animals in violation of the Wild Life Act 1972 and putting the animals on display. In the videos obtained by Telangana Today, visitors were allowed to take pictures holding a python, Iguana and other animals.

"We Are Overrated": 1983 WC Winner Blasts Team India Ahead Of SA 2nd Test

Legendary Indian cricket team batter Krishnamachari Srikkanth criticised the Rohit Sharma-led side and said that the Test team has been ‘overrated’ in the recent times. During a recent interaction, Srikkanth pointed out that India were outstanding when Virat Kohli was skipper but since then, the form has deteriorated drastically. Under Kohli, India won Test series in Australia and England. However, since then, they have lost in South Africa and England as well as in the World Test Championship (WTC) Final.

“Test cricket, we are overrated. I think it was a phase of 2-3 years where we were outstanding when Virat Kohli was the captain of the team. We dominated in England, we fought hard in South Africa, we won in Australia,” Srikkanth said on his YouTube channel.

Srikkanth also said that India need to forget the fact that they are the No. 1 ranked Test side in the world right now and even called some of the current players ‘overrated’. The former India opener also want spinner Kuldeep Yadav to get more chances in order to utilise him properly.

“We have to forget the ICC rankings. We are always 1-2, 1-2. It’s a combination of having overrated cricketers and people who have not performed up to their potential. Or there are players who do not have enough chances, like Kuldeep (Yadav),” he added.

Meanwhile, Dean Elgar will bid to bring the curtain down on his Test career by skippering South Africa to victory in the second and final Test against an India side who are likely to make at least two changes.

The tourists hopes of achieving their first ever series success in South Africa were comprehensively dashed as they lost the first Test by an innings-and-32 runs last Thursday.

South Africa will be revved up to give Elgar a victorious farewell.

The 36-year-old will captain the side — standing in for the injured Temba Bavuma — and is in fine fettle having scored a majestic 185 in the first Test.

Sangareddy: Former Andole MLA Chanti Kranthi Kiran alleged that Health Minister Damodar Raja Narasimha, who won from Andole in the 2023 assembly elections, was getting already sanctioned funds to Andole constituency cancelled.

Speaking to news reporters in Sangareddy on Tuesday, the former BRS MLA said he had got Rs 60 crore sanctioned under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana to improve both R&B and Panchayat roads in the constituency. Another Rs 30 crore was sanctioned from the special funds for constituency development with the support of former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao and Former Minister T Harish Rao. However, Raja Narasimha had decided to cancel these grants, he alleged.

Though the BRS government had granted funds before the elections, he said the works were stalled due to the model code of conduct. Since the Lok Sabha elections were just five months away, Kranthi Kiran said the State would be having the MCC in vogue again. Any delay in granting the funds and grounding the works would hurt the people of the constituency, he said.

Open To Idea Of 1 Palestinian Government For Gaza, West Bank: Hamas Chief

Open To Idea Of 1 Palestinian Government For Gaza, West Bank: Hamas Chief

Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh said this in a televised address.

Palestinian Territories:

Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh said Tuesday he is open to a single Palestinian administration to govern Gaza, which is ruled by the militant group, and the occupied West Bank.

“We have received numerous initiatives concerning the internal (Palestinian) situation and we are open to the idea of a national government for the West Bank and Gaza,” Haniyeh said in a televised address.

Hamas has controlled the Gaza Strip since winning the 2006 Palestinian elections, which were followed by violent clashes with the Fatah party of Palestinian president Mahmud Abbas.

Multiple attempts at reconciliation between the factions have failed, while Abbas’s popularity as head of the Palestinian Authority in the West Bank has plummeted.

Future governance of Gaza has been raised repeatedly during nearly three months of war between Hamas and Israel, which has vowed to crush the group.

The United States has stressed Palestinians must be part of any post-war administration, but the future role of the internationally-recognised Palestinian Authority remains unclear.

In Haniyeh’s address, broadcast by Al Jazeera, the Hamas chief also addressed discussions over a second possible pause to the fighting.

A previous truce paved the way for nearly half of the 250 hostages abducted from Israel on October 7 to be released by Gaza militants.

“The enemy’s prisoners will only be released on terms set by the resistance,” Haniyeh said, without further detail.

Some 129 hostages still remain captive in Gaza.

White paper on Irrigation shortly, says Uttam

White paper on Irrigation shortly, says Uttam

Hyderabad: The State government will soon come out with a white paper on the irrigation sector, Irrigation and Civil Supplies Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy said here on Tuesday.

Speaking to the media, he said the judicial probe announced by the State into the implementation of the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation scheme (KLIS) would commence within a week.

Reiterating that the entire expenditure on rehabilitation of the Medigadda Barrage would be borne fully by the L&T company which had executed the barrage works, he said the government would not allow the guilty to go scot-free. The BRS and BJP had worked together for 3500 days. The Centre had facilitated huge loans to the State modifying the norms for lending to power and irrigation projects, he said. The BJP at the Centre was the major source of support for the State in implementing the Kaleshwaram project. The State had availed a loan assistance of Rs 1.27 lakh crore, he said, adding that loan assistance for the irrigation component alone was Rs.60,000 crore.

He wondered how the Central government had given its concurrence when the State government sought to scale up the project cost from Rs 80,000 crore to Rs.1.27 lakh crore. The State government could avail loans on a large scale through banks and Rural Electrification Corporation. Questioning the motive behind such advances, he sought to know for himself whether the two parties in ruling, planned to loot the State together.

Union Minister G Kishan Reddy did not bother to visit the Medigadda barrage but was talking of central agencies such as the CBI and the Enforcement Directorate, Uttam Kumar Reddy said, adding that BJP leaders had often likened the Kaleshwaram project to an ATM for the BRS leaders. Why did they not order a probe by Enforcement Directorate, he asked.

Driver allegedly left suicide note in deadly Rochester crash

The FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force is investigating after two vehicles – one laden with gas canisters – crashed and plowed into the crowd outside the concert at the Kodak Center, killing two people and injuring five others. The suspect, who has been identified as Michael Avery from Syracuse, has died, two law enforcement sources said, according to the CNN.

Driver allegedly left suicide note in deadly Rochester crash

The FBI defines domestic terrorism as involving acts dangerous to human life that are a violation of US or state laws, appearing to be intended to intimidate or coerce civilians, influence the policy of government by intimidation or coercion, or affect the conduct of government by mass destruction, assassination or kidnapping.

Revelers were walking on a crosswalk outside the venue at around 12:50 a.m. Monday when a Ford SUV slammed into a Mitsubishi Outlander that was leaving a nearby parking lot, Rochester Police Chief David Smith said at a news conference Monday.

The force of the crash sent the vehicles through a group of pedestrians who were on the crosswalk, Smith said.

Two passengers in the Mitsubishi were killed and the driver was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The Ford’s driver was also hospitalized with life-threatening injuries, according to the chief.

Three pedestrians who were struck were taken to a hospital, one with life-threatening injuries, Smith said.

Avery’s family has been interviewed by investigators. Authorities say the suspect’s family believes he was bipolar, though he had not been diagnosed.

President Joe Biden has been briefed on the crash, a White House official said.

The crash ignited a fire that took firefighters nearly an hour to extinguish, the chief said.

Once the flames were out, first responders found “at least a dozen gasoline canisters in and around the striking vehicle,” the chief said.
