Owaisi trying to gain political advantage by disputing Ram Mandir issue: Bandi

Karimnagar: BJP national general secretary and Karimnagar MP Bandi Sanjay Kumar alleged that All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi was trying to gain political advantage by disputing the Rama Mandir idol consecration programme to be held on January 22.

Owaisi was trying to provoke Muslims youth by making controversial statements, Sanjay Kumar said while distributing Rama’s Akshintalu to houses in Chaitanyapuri colony here on Wednesday. The Akshinthalu were brought from Ayodhya under the aegis of the Sri Rama Trust.

Sanjay Kumar said that even the Muslim religious leaders across the country had not opposed the verdict of the Supreme Court on the construction of the Ram Mandir. Irrespective of political affiliations, Hindus in the country contributed their part and built a wonderful Ram Mandir.

They were eagerly waiting for the idol worshiping ceremony of Sri Ram, he said.

Sometimes One Waits For Coronation, But Ends Up In Exile: Shivraj Chouhan

Sometimes One Waits For Coronation, But Ends Up In Exile: Shivraj Chouhan

Shivraj Chouhan said sometimes one ends up in “vanvas” (exile) while waiting for “rajtilak” (coronation).

Bhopal:

Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and former Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said sometimes one ends up in “vanvas” while waiting for “rajtilak” (coronation).

After the BJP’s landslide victory in the Madhya Pradesh assembly polls held in November 2023, the party chose Mohan Yadav as the chief minister, replacing Shivraj Chouhan who served as the state’s CM for four times.

Shivraj Chouhan, while addressing a gathering in Shahganj town under his Budhni assembly seat on Tuesday evening, got emotional and said he will continue to be among the people, especially his sisters.

“I will not go anywhere. I will live here and die here,” Mr Chouhan said when a couple of women sitting in the audience shouted “bhaiyya (brother), don’t go anywhere leaving us alone.”

The former chief minister said all the works started by the previous BJP government, including the Ladli Behna Yojana (for women’s welfare), housing scheme for beneficiaries of the Ladli Behna scheme, a scheme of one job in each family and promises made to farmers, will be fulfilled by the present government.

“The new government will take forward all these works. There must be some big objective somewhere, sometimes by the time ‘rajtilak’ takes place, one even ends up in ‘vanvas’ (exile). But all this happens to fulfil some or the other objective,” Mr Chouhan told the gathering.

He said the present ruling dispensation will implement all these schemes as there is BJP’s government in the state and not of the Congress.

The former chief minister also noted that children who were among the audience had come to show their love for “mama” (maternal uncle – as Mr Chouhan is popularly referred).

Earlier, a large number of BJP workers and women welcomed Mr Chouhan on his arrival in Shahganj.

Mr Chouhan won the election from Budhni assembly seat by a margin of more than 1.04 lakh votes over his Congress rival Vikram Mastal.

In the November 2023 state elections, the BJP bagged 163 of the 230 assembly seats, posting a resounding victory and retaining power in the central state.

The opposition Congress was relegated to a distant second spot with victory in 66 assembly segments, while one seat was won by the Bharat Adivasi Party.

Powerful resistance front indebted to Gen. Soleimani’s sacrifices: Iranian cmdr

Deputy Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Brigadier General Aziz Nasirzadeh says the resistance front is powerful thanks to the sacrifices made by Iran’s late anti-terror commander Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani.

Nasirzadeh made the remarks on Tuesday on the fourth martyrdom anniversary of General Soleimani, the commander of the Quds Force of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) who was assassinated in a US drone strike in the Iraqi capital of Baghdad on January 3, 2020.

Pointing to the legendary commander’s role in the revival of the resistance front, Nasirzadeh said, “Martyr Soleimani expanded the geography of resistance at the regional level and made the resistance front self-sufficient.”

Stressing that the resistance front’s power, self-sufficiency and self-reliance result from the top Iranian anti-terror commander’s efforts, Nasirzadeh said, “The expansion of the geography of resistance is beholden to the sacrifices of Martyr Soleimani, and the result of the Palestinian resistance will definitely be the liberation of occupied al-Quds.”

He also touched upon the latest developments in Palestine and underlined that the Palestinian resistance forces’ equipment is “fully indigenous.”

“The Palestinian resistance forces are self-sufficient in terms of weapons and equipment and have been able to defeat the criminal Zionists,” Nasirzadeh added.

‘Gen. Soleimani saw through true face of US, Israel’

Also on Tuesday, Hossein Nejat, the deputy head of the IRGC’s Sarallah Base, praised General Soleimani’s perspicacity and insightfulness, saying the top commander “saw through the true face” of the United States, the Israeli regime and Europe.

“Westerners have two faces,” Nejat said. “One is the ornate face of those who consider themselves supporters of democracy, human rights and progress, and the other is their true face, which we see today in Gaza.”

The IRGC commander pointed to the ongoing Israeli crimes against Palestinians in the besieged Gaza Strip, saying the heads of Western governments have officially supported a child-killing regime so far and there is no mention of human rights and children’s rights on their behalf.

“This is while in the past 100 years, every war that broke out across the world was by the US and Europe, and they have killed about 500 million people in this period,” he added.

Nejat also stressed that the United States, Europe and Israel have created terrorist groups across the world.

General Soleimani, Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, the second-in-command of Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Units (PMU), and their companions were assassinated in a US drone strike authorized by then-US President Donald Trump near Baghdad International Airport on January 3, 2020.

Both commanders were highly revered across the Middle East because of their key role in fighting the Daesh Takfiri terrorist group in the region, particularly in Iraq and Syria.

In less than a week after the attack, Iraqi lawmakers approved a bill that required the government to end the presence of all foreign military forces led by the US in the country.

The IRGC also targeted the US-run Ain al-Asad base in Iraq’s western province of Anbar with a wave of missile attacks in retaliation for the assassination of General Soleimani.

"Truth Has Prevailed": Gautam Adani On Top Court Verdict In Hindenburg Case

Gautam Adani welcomed the Supreme Court verdict in the Hindenburg row

New Delhi:

Adani Group chairman Gautam Adani today welcomed the Supreme Court verdict in the Hindenburg row as the victory of truth. In a post on X, formerly Twitter, Mr Adani said he was “grateful to those who stood by us”.

In a huge victory for conglomerate, the Supreme Court today said the George Soros-led OCCRP’s report can’t be the basis for doubting the capital markets regulator SEBI’s investigation into the Hindenburg case.

“The Hon’ble Supreme Court’s judgment shows that: Truth has prevailed. Satyameva Jayate. I am grateful to those who stood by us. Our humble contribution to India’s growth story will continue. Jai Hind,” Mr Adani said in the post on X.

Delivering the judgment, a Supreme Court bench of Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud and justices JB Pardiwala and Manoj Misra said there were no grounds to transfer the probe to a special investigation team (SIT).

The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has investigated 22 out of the 24 cases linked to the US-based short seller Hindenburg Research’s allegations. The Supreme Court gave the SEBI three months to complete investigation in the remaining two cases.

The Adani Group has bounced back stronger since the days of the group firms’ steep nosedive following the allegations by the US-based short seller Hindenburg Research.

In yet another major win, the Supreme Court also ordered the government and SEBI to check whether Hindenburg ignored rules in shorting the market and to take action accordingly.

Supreme Court declines to order SIT or CBI probe in Adani-Hindenburg row

A bench of Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud, PS Pardiwala and Manoj Misra said the scope of power of the apex court to enter into the regulatory domain of SEBI is limited.

New Delhi: In a relief to the Adani group of companies, the Supreme Court on Wednesday declined to transfer the probe to a Special Investigation Team (SIT) or CBI into the Adani-Hindenburg issue over allegations of stock price manipulation by the Indian corporate giant from Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI).

A bench of Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud, PS Pardiwala and Manoj Misra said the scope of power of the apex court to enter into the regulatory domain of SEBI is limited.

It said the scope of judicial review is only to see whether any fundamental right has been violated. The SC said the facts of the case do not warrant the transfer of the probe to the SIT or other agency. The SC also said there was no material to doubt the investigation carried out by the SEBI.

The verdict of the top court came on a batch of petitions seeking a court-monitored investigation or CBI probe into the allegations made by US-based firm Hindenburg Research against the Adani group of companies regarding violations of the stock market.

The bench said there has been no regulatory failure by SEBI and the market regulator cannot be expected to carry on its functions based on press reports though such reports can act as inputs for SEBI.

The top court asked SEBI to complete within three months its probe into two cases pending out of 24 cases.

The case is related to the allegations (part of a report by short-seller Hindenberg Research) that Adani had inflated its share prices. After these allegations were published, it led to a sharp fall in the share value of various Adani companies, reportedly to the tune of USD 100 billion.

The Adani Group has dismissed the charges as lies, saying it complies with all laws and disclosure requirements.

Various petitions were filed alleging that changes to the Securities and Exchange Board of India Act (SEBI) had provided a shield and an excuse for the Adani Group’s regulatory contraventions and market manipulations to remain undetected.

The apex court then asked SEBI to independently probe the matter and also constituted an expert committee headed by retired Supreme Court judge Justice AM Sapre to look into the matter.

In May last year, the expert committee in its report had found no prima facie lapse on the part of the SEBI in the matter.

While reserving the verdict, the Supreme Court had said it has no reason to “discredit” SEBI, which probed allegations against the Adani group, as there was no material before it to doubt what the market regulator has done and the court does not have to treat what was set out in the Hindenburg report as a “true state of affairs”.

It had observed that it cannot ask a statutory regulator to take as a “gospel truth” something which was published in the media.

Advocate Prashant Bhushan, appearing for one of the petitioners, had told the apex court that there were many factual revelations in the Hindenburg report.

He said it was for the top court to see whether the investigation done by the SEBI was credible or not and whether some other independent organisation or a Special Investigation Team (SIT) needs to be formed to investigate it.

Arbitrary court orders summoning govt officials contrary to Constitution: SC

New Delhi: Arbitrary court orders summoning government officials in judicial proceedings run contrary to the scheme envisaged by the Constitution, the Supreme Court held on Wednesday and framed standard operating procedures on the issue.

A bench comprising Chief justice D Y Chandrachud and justices JB Pardiwala and Manoj Misra said the standard operating procedures (SOP) for courts emphasised that they needed to steer away from arbitrary summoning of officials.

Pronouncing the judgement, the CJI said the courts cannot summon a official only because his view is different from that of the courts.

It also said that courts must refrain from making remarks or observations to humiliate officers during court proceedings.

The top court also set aside the orders of the Allahabad High Court by which two secretaries of the Uttar Pradesh finance department were taken into custody.

Earlier, the bench had said that it will lay down the broad guidelines to be followed by courts across the country while summoning government officials.
