TS EAMCET likely to be conducted on May 10

Hyderabad: The Telangana State Engineering, Agriculture and Medical Common Entrance Test (TS EAMCET) 2024 is likely to be conducted on May 10.

The EAMCET will be held for five days, with three days for the engineering stream and two for the AM stream. A schedule for the TS EAMCET, along with other common entrance tests including ECET, ICET, PGECET, EdCET and LAWCET, will be notified by the Higher Education Department in a couple of days. “The TS EAMCET is expected to commence from May 10. We will issue the dates for CETs in two to three days,” a senior official told Telangana Today.

The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main’s second session will be conducted from April 1-15 and JEE Advanced is on May 26, while the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) UG is on May 5.

Every year, the TSCHE seeks university nominees for the appointment of conveners to various CETs and later announces the examination schedule for different entrance examinations. However, this time, the schedule will be notified first followed by the appointment of the conveners. This is because the TSCHE does not have a full-time chairman.

As many as 2,05,351 students registered, 1,95,275 attended and 1,56,879 qualified in the engineering stream of the EAMCET 2023. Similarly, 1,15,332 candidates applied, 1,06,514 attended and 91,935 qualified in the AM stream of the EAMCET 2023.

“Martyr Suleimani’s image, might and determination are present in all fields of resistance,” he said, adding that ” All the resistance achievements rely mainly on the sacrifices of martyr Suleimani.”

“One of the main features of the loyalty of martyr Suleimani to the resistance was that he used to help every group to reach self-sufficiency,” the Hezbollah leader further said about the assassinated Iranian general.

“Iraqi paramilitary and resistance fighters found Martyr Suleimani as the main supporter,” he continued to say, adding that the “US occupation forces were expelled from Iraq in 2011, thanks to the Iraqi resistance supported by Martyr Suleimani.”

“Martyr Suleimani contributed mainly to sustaining ties among the resistance groups in the entire region under the title of Axis of Resistance”, according to Nasrallah, adding that, “Martyr Suleimani was keen on sustaining the communication among the resistance groups in order to coordinate the acts of confronting the Israeli enemy.”

“Resistance groups in the region act according to the conditions of the country they exist in despite the strategic agreement on identifying the enemies, friends and targets,” he added, while saying that “Some political writers and analysts think that Iran orders all the Axis of Resistance, as some regimes do with the groups they control.”

Cape Town: Aiden Markram and David Bedingham took South Africa to 62/3 at Stumps on dramatic day one of the second Test match in Cape Town on Wednesday.

At the time of stumps, South Africa’s score read 62/3 – trail by 36 runs – with Markram (36) and Bedingham (7) unbeaten at the crease.

India saw a dramatic collapse from 153/4 to 153/10 within six balls during their first inning on day one of the Test match. The visitors took a lead of 98 runs. Their lead was 56 with six wickets in hand at Tea.

Kohli and Rahul looked pretty comfortable on the crease and were building a solid partnership. However, Rahul‘s one loose shot opened the floodgates and lost three more wickets within the next five deliveries.

Lungi Ngidi, Kagiso Rabada, and Nandre Burger used their pace at Newlands to dominate the Indian batting lineup during the final session of day one. Apart from Marco Jansen, all the other three pacers picked up a three-wicket haul to bundle out India at 153/10.

The day one of the second Test match saw 23 wickets fall in total after South Africa won the toss and opted to bat and made the landmark for the second most wickets on Day 1 of a Test.

Skipper Dean Elgar (12 runs from 28 balls) was dismissed in the 11th over by Mukesh Kumar. Following this the Proteas lost two quick wickets of Tony de Zorzi (1 run from 7 balls) and Tristan Stubbs (1 run from 14 balls). The hosts will depend on Markram and Bedingham on the second day of the Test match.

Recapping the second session of day one, Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill took India to 111/4 and had a lead of 56 runs at the Tea on Wednesday. After scoring 55 runs in their first inning, South Africa were able to fight back in the game after Proteas pacer Nandre Burger bagged three wickets in the second session.

Yashasvi Jaiswal (0 runs from 7 balls) had a poor start to India’s first session and was dismissed by Kagiso Rabada in the 3rd over of India’s first inning. However, after the dismissal of Jaiswal, Rohit (39 runs from 50 balls) and Gill (36 runs from 55 balls) took in charge of the game. The India skipper slammed 7 fours, while, the 24-year-old hit five boundaries.

But India failed to make a solid partnership after Nandre Burger’s fiery spell which helped the Proteas to dismiss Rohit and Gill in the 15th and 21st over respectively.

Coming to the first session of day one, India speedster Mohammed Siraj produced an irresistible spell to crush South Africa’s batting order with his 6-wicket haul to bundle out the hosts for 55 in the second Test at the Newlands.

A spell of 6/15 from Siraj in 9 overs absolutely demolished the hosts as they were bundled out for a total of 55. It was his first five-wicket haul in South Africa and third overall. Pacer bagged the crucial wickets of Markram, Dean Elgar, Tony de Zorzi, David Bedingham, the dangerous Marco Jansen and Kyle Verreynne.

South Africa lost wickets at frequent intervals after opting to bat first. In addition to Siraj, Jasprit Bumrah and Mukesh Kumar each grabbed two wickets. For South Africa, Kyle Verreynne scored 15 while David Bedingham scored 12.

BRS is no B team of any party, reiterates KTR

BRS working president KT Rama Rao speaking to media persons
at Telangana Bhavan on Wednesday.

Hyderabad: BRS working president K T Rama Rao on Wednesday ripped into the BJP leadership stating that it was hardly of any use even to lend a helping hand in promoting the State on any count.

Talking to media persons, he said the BJP was known for its divisive and disruptive potential and that the BRS always preferred to stay poles apart from it. The just concluded assembly elections had proved amply that the BRS was not the B team for any political party including the BJP.

People, especially brothers of the minority community should be clear in their minds that the BRS had nothing to do with the BJP.

“We fought intensely in elections and ensured the defeat of the bigwigs of the BJP in the State including the likes of Bandi Sanjay and Etala Rajender. Of course, the BJP was also successful in defeating the BRS president,” he said, adding that it was a matter of concern that the BJP was of least support for the development of Telangana. The party leaders had gone on record sounding highly critical of the very birth of Telangana State.

The BJP in rule at the Centre was instrumental for wresting away seven revenue mandals from Khammam district of Telangana and gifting them away to Andhra Pradesh. In the process, Telangana had to part with its all important Lower Sileru Hydel Power station.

The Congress party had also turned a silent spectator when the State was deprived of the seven revenue mandals.

Coming down heavily on the Congress leadership too, he said the people in the State were wary of the sinister designs of the Congress which was making all out efforts to showcase Telangana as a failed State. Telangana was nurtured so well and so long by the BRS leadership. But it was being projected as the one that had gone bankrupt.

The Kaleshwaram project that had won laurels world over as an engineering marvel was being painted as poorly designed and ill conceived. The BRS government is known today by its 3.20 crore tonne paddy harvest it had ensured last year, the water it could provide for irrigation and meeting the drinking water needs and the big turnaround achieved by State in power and industry besides many other sectors. He pointed out that neither the BJP nor the Congress could come to the rescue of the State by raising at least their voice when Telangana was denied the bifurcation commitments such as the Bayyaram steel factory or the Kazipet coach factory.

Heads of state and leaders of resistance groups in the region have offered condolences to Iran over the twin deadly blasts that rocked the country’s southeastern city of Kerman on Wednesday.

Russian President Vladimir Putin offered deep condolences to Iran’s leadership over the tragic incident.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan also offered condolences to the “friendly and brotherly” people of Iran over the “heinous terror attack.”

“We are deeply saddened by the heinous terrorist attacks carried out in the Kerman province of Iran. I wish God’s mercy to those who lost their lives in the attacks and a speedy recovery to those who were injured,” Erdogan said on X.

“Such an evil attack against the innocent people will increase cohesion among the Islamic Ummah and their adherence to the resistance, of which martyr Soleimani will always be one of the symbols.”

The political bureau of Yemen’s Ansarullah movement also strongly condemned the attack, which it called “criminal.”

The movement said the incident was part of enemies’ attempts to undermine Iran’s role in the anti-arrogance movement and weaken its support for the cause of the Islamic Ummah and the resistance.

Ansarullah stressed that Iran is stronger than all the conspiracies hatched against it and that efforts of the US and the Zionist regime to foment insecurity in Iran will be thwarted with the help of God Almighty.

Seyyed Ammar Hakim, the leader of Iraq’s National Wisdom Movement, strongly condemned the terror attack and offered his deepest sympathies to the Iranian people.

He also urged the international community to join hands to combat terrorism to promote stability and security worldwide.

Meanwhile, the Iraqi government also said it condemns the terrorist attack and offered any help needed “to alleviate the impact of this cowardly criminal act.”

“As a country deeply suffered from terrorism, Azerbaijan condemns all its forms & manifestations,” the country’s Foreign Ministry said in a statement published on its X account.

Pakistani Foreign Minister Jalil Abbas Jilani also strongly condemned the terrorist blasts.

Bhagwati Baggi Waale: Keeping Ayodhya's Iconic Tonga Rides Alive

Bhagwati said he has been riding the tonga since he was 8 years old

Ayodhya:

Ayodhya is seeing rapid makeover ahead of the much-awaited “pran pratishtha” (consecration ceremony) of the Ram Temple. A massive rise in e-rickshaws in the holy city has cast a shadow on the iconic practice of tongas or horse-drawn carts.

Bhagwati, 70, who is fondly known as “Bhagwati baggi wale”, is said to be the last horse-cart driver in the town.

Every morning, Bhagwati and his horse “Babu” leave for work in the hope that the opening of the grand temple and the novelty factor around the horse-drawn carriage will bring in extra income.

Speaking exclusively to NDTV, he explains how e-rickshaws are contributing to the decrease in the popularity of tongas.

“The tongas have gone extinct since the e-rickshaws have come,” Bhagwati told NDTV.

“People prefer e-rickshaws as they are more economical and slightly faster than tongas,” he said.

Bhagwati said that he has been riding the tonga since he was 8 years old.

He said he earns merely Rs 300-400 per day but is still ferrying the passengers on the tonga to keep the tradition of Lord Ram’s birthplace — Ayodhya — alive.

“I do this to keep the practice alive. This is Lord Ram’s birthplace. I will never ride an e-rickshaw as I don’t like it. I like animals,” he said.

The Ram Mandir will be consecrated on January 22 and Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath are scheduled to attend the ceremony.

More than 6,000 people are also likely to attend the event.
