Caught On Camera, Technician Tries To Strangle 67-Year-Old Woman To Steal Gold Chain

In a shocking incident, an elderly woman narrowly escaped a heinous murder attempt by a cable technician who allegedly sought to steal her gold chain. CCTV camera captured the spine-chilling episode which took place in Andhra Pradesh’s Gavarapalem.

The accused, identified as Govind, is a cable technician who used to frequently visit the 67-year-old Narayanamma’s home.

Last week, he tried to strangle and kill the woman in an attempt to snatch her gold chain.

The video of the incident shows Govind callously wrapping a towel around Narayanamma while she was sitting on the chair. The footage shows her desperate struggle for survival as she gasps for breath, and tries to fend off the assault.

As the assailant tightened his grip, Narayanamma’s screams filled the air, capturing the sheer terror of the moment. Determined to silence her, Govind places a hand over her mouth in a ruthless attempt to kill her.

Presuming her to be dead, he runs away with a gold chain that she was wearing.

Miraculously, the woman survived the brutal attack, and a case was promptly filed by the family.

Govind was later arrested, and police said how the CCTV footage helped them identify and find him.

Parl. to remove obstacles in exporting technical services

Referring to the capacity of 35 billion dollars for the export of technical and engineering services, Mohammad Reza Rezaei Kouchi, Chairman of the Civil Engineering Committee of the Iranian Parliament, while explaining the meeting of his committee on Sunday, said, “Considering that our country is very rich in terms of manpower and engineering knowledge, we must provide this opportunity to the engineering community, in addition to meeting domestic needs.”

The representative in the parliament continued, “In today’s meeting, we discussed and talked specifically about the export of technical and engineering services to Iraq.”

More than 38 top Iranian companies are active in Iraq and implement construction projects, but to continue their work and return investment, they need more support, follow-up, and coordination between the diplomatic apparatus of the government and the parliament so that they have more motivation to attend.

Rezaei Kouchi emphasized that the export of technical and engineering services has brought great currency to the country.

He added, “Iraq is very important for Iran, politically and we support the presence of Iranian companies in this country. Some of these companies are struggling with legal problems that can be solved.”

The chairman of the construction commission of the parliament added, “Now the representatives of the Iraqi parliament are present in Iran, we hope that it is possible to hold a joint meeting.”

Nitish Kumar Jabs Rahul Gandhi On Caste Count: "I Did It, He Claims Credit"

In a sharp response to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s remarks on the Bihar caste survey, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today accused the Congress MP of trying to take credit for something he has not done.

“Has he forgotten when the caste census happened? I conducted it in the presence of nine parties. In 2019-2020, I would talk about caste census everywhere, from assembly to public meetings. I also met the Prime Minister. I did it. They (Congress) were on the other side then. If someone tries to take false credit… Let it be,” Mr Kumar told the media this morning.

In a scathing attack on the Bihar Chief Minister, days after he parted ways with the RJD and Congress and rejoined the NDA, Mr Gandhi claimed that Mr Kumar wriggled out of the Opposition bloc because he felt “trapped” after the caste survey. “You need to understand that Nitish Kumar was feeling trapped after the Congress and RJD ensured that a caste survey was held. The BJP provided him with a way out,” he said at a rally in Bihar’s Purnea.

The Congress MP is now in Bihar for the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, Congress’s last-ditch attempt to rally support for the Lok Sabha polls.

Hyderabad erupts in debate as Kumari Aunty faces relocation from Madhapur lane

Hyderabad: Hyderabadis used Reddit and other social media sites to voice their opinions after the Instagram famous Kumari Aunty was asked to relocate her food stall from the busy ITC Kohenur lane in Madhapur owing to traffic congestion. Some believed it was in the public interest, while others believed Kumari Aunty was unfairly being singled out because of her unexpected surge in popularity.

A popular post in a Hyderabad Reddit group opened a discussion on Kumari Aunty’s shop closing down. “Leave the roads for vehicles and footpath for pedestrians,” opined one person.

“Irrespective of whether the food is good or bad, that entire stretch is haphazard, people park their vehicles at will. I was passing by this stretch on Saturday evening and boy oh boy, 2 lanes on the left and one lane by the divider were full of cars when honked people were abusing me,” a Reddit user expressed anguish.

Some others pointed out that the whole issue was created by food vloggers and they “must be banned”. “Food vloggers seem to be the root cause of these issues whereas a substantial number of people fail to comprehend that such situations arise only when people are not sensible or do not take accountability,” commented a Reddit user.

“Take people at workplace or your relatives or your neighbors, only they can’t see if you’re happy enough,” wrote another user. While one added, “Too much fame in short time is never good.” “Maybe ITC didn’t like the view from the balcony,” joked another Hyderabadi.

He went on to say that Yemeni forces will continue to prevent the movement of the Israeli ships or ships bound for occupied Palestinian ports until the war in Gaza stops and the blockade is lifted.

Biden 'decided' on Jordan attack response, claims he wants to avoid 'wider war'

US President Joe Biden says he has “decided” on how he wants the country to respond to a recent deadly attack against American forces in Jordan, but alleges that he is seeking to avoid a “wider war” in the West Asia region.

“Yes,” Biden replied after being asked if he had chosen how the United States sought to retaliate against the Sunday drone attack. The strike targeted a small US outpost in Jordan, leaving three American troops dead and injuring at least 34 others.

The US president, who was speaking to reporters while leaving the White House on a campaign trip to Florida, however, did not elaborate.

He, meanwhile, alleged, “I don’t think we need a wider war… That’s not what I’m looking for.”

Repeating an earlier claim made by himself and other US officials, Biden purported that he held Iran “responsible in the sense that they’re supplying the weapons.”

In a statement on Monday, Iran’s mission to the United Nations said Tehran had no links to attacks on US forces in the region as they were related to conflict between regional resistance groups and the US military.

The statement was echoed in a letter that was written by Amir Saeid Iravani, Iran’s permanent ambassador to the United Nations, to the world body’s Security Council.

Iravani categorically rejected accusations leveled by the United States about the Islamic Republic’s involvement in anti-American operations in the region.

He asserted unequivocally that “there is no group affiliated with the Islamic Republic of Iran’s Armed Forces, whether in Iraq, Syria, or elsewhere that operates directly or indirectly under the control of the Islamic Republic of Iran or acts on its behalf.”

“Therefore, the Islamic Republic of Iran is not responsible for the actions of any individual or group within the region,” Iran’s UN ambassador added.

New Parliament building embodies the essence of ‘Shrestha Bharat’: President Murmu

New Delhi: President Droupadi Murmu on Wednesday said that the new Parliament building has the fragrance of “Shrestha Bharat” and reflects the glory of India’s culture and civilisation.

Addressing the joint sitting of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha in the new Parliament building, President Murmu said the past year has been of historic achievements for the country.

It was the first address by the President to the joint sitting of the two Houses in new Parliament building.
She said the new Parliament building was constructed in the beginning of Amirt Kaal – the period to make India a developed country by 2047.

“It (the new Parliament building) has the fragrance of Shrestha Bharat and reflects the glory of India’s culture and civilisation. This has the pledge to respect our democratic and parliament”>parliamentary traditions,” the President said.

The budget session of Parliament began on Wednesday and will be the last session of the present Lok Sabha with general elections likely to take place in April-May this year.

The budget session of Parliament will continue till February 9.

UN Security Council says concerned about ‘rapidly deteriorating’ Gaza conditions

The United Nations Security Council has raised the alarm at the “dire and rapidly deteriorating humanitarian situation” in the Gaza Strip as Israel continues its genocidal war on the besieged territory.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the 15-member council urged all parties to work with UN Senior Humanitarian and Reconstruction Coordinator for Gaza, Sigrid Kaag.

Earlier in the day, Kaag highlighted the irreplaceable role played by the UN agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) in offering critical assistance to besieged Gaza.

“There is no way any organization can replace or substitute the tremendous capacity and the fabric of UNRWA and its ability and knowledge,” she told reporters.

The remarks came after several countries, including the US, suspended funding for UNRWA following Israeli accusations about the involvement of 12 of the agency’s staff members in the October 7 operation by the Palestinian Hamas resistance group.

Kaag warned that the absence of a humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza is hindering aid efforts.

She also emphasized the importance of increasing the flow of commercial goods into the blockaded Palestinian territory in addition to humanitarian assistance.

“There will be no recovery, let alone reconstruction in the future, without that broad bandwidth,” she added.

Defunding UNRWA ‘distraction’ from Gaza’s dire situation

The World Health Organization (WHO) also warned that defunding UNRWA threatens to worsen the already dire situation of over 2 million people in the Gaza Strip.

WHO spokesperson Christian Lindmeier said the funding row is “a distraction from what’s really going on every day, every hour, every minute in Gaza.”

“It is a distraction from the more than 27,000 deaths right now, of which 70% are women and children,” he noted. “It is a distraction from preventing an entire population from access to clean water, food, shelter. It is a distraction from preventing electricity from coming into Gaza for more than 100 days.”

Gaza needs ‘continued support’

Meanwhile, UN Spokesperson Stephane Dujarric said that aid cuts to UNRWA will be felt within weeks in Gaza.

“Civilians in Gaza who are suffering, need the continued support of everyone,” he added. “The critical humanitarian work the UN does not only in Gaza, in the region, needs to be supported. People’s lives depend on it.”

Israel waged its genocidal war on besieged Gaza on October 7 after Hamas carried out Operation Al-Aqsa Storm against the occupying entity in retaliation for its intensified atrocities against the Palestinian people.

So far, the Tel Aviv regime has killed at least 26,751 Palestinians, mostly women and children, and injured 65,636 others.

In an emergency interim ruling on Friday, the UN’s top court ordered Israel to prevent genocide against Palestinians in Gaza.

The Hague-based International Court of Justice (ICJ) said Israel must “take all measures in its power” to limit the death and destruction caused by its offensive, prevent and punish incitement to genocide, and ensure access to humanitarian aid.

What Really Happened To Mayank Agarwal On Flight? Team Manager Reveals

Indian cricketer Mayank Agarwal had to be admitted to the ICU in Agartala after a bizarre incident took place on the flight. Mayank reportedly drank water from a bottle kept in front of him and immediately started to feel his throat itching while his lips also swelled. Mayank was rushed to the hospital and treated by a team of doctors. While he is out of any possible danger, the hospital has reportedly revealed that he would not be able to speak for one or two days as he has ulcers and swelling in the mouth. But, what exactly happened with Mayank on the flight? The team’s manager has revealed.

According to the Karnataka team manager, Mayank rushed to the restroom on the flight after feeling an itching sensation in his throat before being attended by the doctors, who then advised hospitalization.

“We were about to take off, and Mayank felt thirsty. So, he drank water kept behind the seat pocket in front of his seat. After a few minutes, he realised that his throat was itching, and he felt the urge to vomit. Consequently, he rushed to the washroom near the cockpit and informed the air hostess,” Karnataka team manager Ramesh was quoted as saying by India Today.

“The air hostess immediately rang the emergency bell and checked if there was any doctor available on the flight. Unfortunately, there was no doctor, so the pilot was informed, and a message was sent to the airport authority. Doctors came to see him, and they said, ‘We can’t provide first aid here; he needs to be hospitalised.’ An ambulance arrived, and he was taken to the hospital.”

Mayank was on an Indigo flight, bound to fly from Agartala to New Delhi when the incident took place. The airline also issued a statement, shedding light on the matter.

“IndiGo flight 6E 5177 operating from Agartala to Delhi returned to origin due to a medical emergency onboard. The passenger was off-loaded and was rushed to the hospital for further medical assistance. The aircraft took off again for its destination at 1620h,” the statement read.
